Abs diets for women are usually focused on three main points: eat more dairy, eat more often and exercise right to whittle your middle.

I first stumbled upon the power of dairy when I decided to try all the new chocolate yogurts on the market several years back. I noticed eating yogurt frequently as a snack slimmed down my middle.

It turns out there was something to my theory on how to get flat abs, which led me to create this list on tips from different best abs diets for women.

I did not follow “The Abs Diet For Women” by David Zinczenko, but was able to get great results to flatten my stomach by adopting some of the principles in his book as well as rules from all of the best ab diets for women out there:

No. 1: My Best Ad Diets For Women Rule: Eat more dairy. Curtin University of Technology conducted research that showed a higher intake of dairy products can help you trim down. Participants who consume five servings of dairy as opposed to three had a greater total percentage abdominal fat loss. For dairy, I enjoy Almased Diet shakes with honey, soy and yogurt as well as Activia.

No. 2: My Best Ab Diets For Women Rule: Ditch the Trans Fats: In a study published in the Journal of Obesity in 2007, monkeys that were fed trans fat gained significant weight with increased abdominal fat deposits. While we are not monkeys, I’m willing to bet trans fat goes straight to our bellies as well!

No. 3: My Best Ab Diets For Women Rule: Sleep more. I found I could whittle my middle by sleeping more to lose weight. Sleep about 8 or 9 hours for best results.

No. 4: My Best Ab Diets For Women Rule: Do Pilates in addition to high intensity interval training. I lost inches by doing Pilates every other day even when I’m engaged in the Insanity Workout plan.

No. 5: My Best Ab Diets For Women Rule: Go gluten-free most of the time. Instead of oatmeal, I tried Buckwheat. I had fun eating rice and vegetables such as that eaten on the Thai Diet. I began my day the gluten-free way with a gluten-free breakfast.

I found it’s possible to get flat abs by eating more of the right foods and less processed foods with artificial sweeteners, colors and flavors. I also got better abs by picking up the intensity and doing some Pilates-type exercises.

They say no diet is right for every person. I like to just take what works from the best ab diets for women and stick with that!
