Technogym’s Cardio Wave Review

Cardio

My newest favorite piece of exercise equipment is the Technogym’s Cardio Wave. It was recently released and not available to purchase for your home yet. However, due to its popularity, the Cardio Wave can be seen appearing at many fitness centers.

As an avid runner, I am not usually one to test out all of the new fitness products that are constantly appearing. A friend of mine suggested I try the Cardio Wave and I am glad that I listened.

The Cardio Wave works similarly to an elliptical machine. Instead of your feet going forward and backwards, they go in circular motions out to the sides. It almost feels like roller blading to me. The three different planes of movement that the Cardio Wave uses are extension, abduction, and external rotation.

This machine is great if you are looking to tone your legs and butt. If you don’t hold onto the hand rails, the balance that is required will strengthen your core as well. The only problem I have with this machine is that it does nothing for your arms the way many ellipticals do.

Since there is no impact with the Cardio Wave, the way there is with running, the machine works well for a wide range of people such as those who are older or recovering from injury.

The machine does not look like much when you are watching others use it. Honestly, I never had any desire to try it until someone recommended it to me.

So why do I like the Cardio Wave so much? Because it burns so many calories! In a 50 minute workout I can burn 1000 calories (at 140 pounds) by putting it on the highest setting. I find it really motivating to get through my workout to wait for 1000 calories appear on the screen. This would take me about twice as long on a treadmill. Even if you aren’t interested in a 50 minute workout, the Wave burns considerably more calories than any other type of cardio activity out there. This is great if you are trying to lose weight since burning 3500 calories means the loss of one pound.

I recommend that you try the Cardio Wave because of the amount of calories it burns. Since everyone is so busy these days, a machine that can burn the same number of calories in less time is handy to have around. The movement is also easy to do and leaves me feeling good rather than tired and out of breath.
