20 Minute Workout, 30 Day Shred

Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred was surprisingly fun and easy to follow. I’ve never worked out to Jillian Michaels before although I enjoyed watching her on The Biggest Loser reality television show and Losing It With Jillian Michaels.

The 30 Day Shred includes three complete 20-minute workouts which get progressively harder as you get in better shape.

You will need either a mat or the carpeted floor as well as hand weights. I suggest 5 to 8 pounds weights depending on your arm strength.

The first 20-minute workout was challenging yet simple to follow.

The Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout started with a 2-minute warm up followed by three 6-minute circuits. According to the DVD, the circuits include 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs as well as a 2-minute cool down.

The abdominal exercises were challenging but did not last so long that I gave up.

The moves using the hand weights were so simply yet I could feel my muscles working.

Also, I was surprised by how motivating Jillian Michaels can be.

She wasn’t nasty, demanding or (in your face) as she sometimes appears on The Biggest Loser, but was gently motivating, positive and upbeat.

I felt like the 20 minute workout flew by. I did work up a sweat and I also was able to get in my strength training.

Because of the weight training aspect, I recommend doing the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels every other day.

If you are in a hurry, the 30 Day Shred is perfect. Anyone can find 20 minutes to workout every other day or three to four times a week.

I liked the idea of progressing to a more difficult workout so your body does not adjust. It’s great to keep your body guessing.

As Jillian Michaels points out in the 30 Day Shred DVD, you can’t expect to get results in 20 minutes unless you really work it. So, put your energy and concentration into those 20 minutes and, I think, you will see a lean, shredded body.

For my Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred review, I give the exercise DVD 4.9 out of 5 stars.

It’s excellent. I’m not sure you will lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days, especially if you aren’t extremely overweight or out of shape, but you will see results. My plan is to do the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred three times a week, and continue with my running or elliptical training four other days a week.
