Beefsteak Rye Breads Are Consistently Satisfying: Consumer Product Review

Ibc, Rye Bread, Wonder Bread

Bread has often been described as the “Staff of life”. To me, it has always been the most important and/ or enjoyable part of all of the meals that I consume. One of my very favorite types of bread is rye bread and the most consistently fresh, delicious and high- quality brand of rye bread that I have encountered is Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread. Produced by IBC (R), Interstate Bakeries Corporation, makers of such well- known and reliable brands as Hostess (R), Wonder Bread (R), Drake’s (R), Dolly Madison (R), Colombo (R) and Home Pride (R), Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread is a regular accompaniment to many meals that I eat, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. When topped with butter, margarine or vegetable oil spread, Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread offers a versatile, pleasant- tasting flavor that is an ideal accompaniment for all types of meals, especially those that contain sauces, wherein Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread is a wonderful vehicle for soaking- up extra liquids.

The soft, yet pliant texture of this bread makes it a great platform for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, proving itself to be more durable than most varieties of white bread. The slightly sour, tangy taste of this bread lends itself well to a host of deli- type sandwiches, such as corned beef, pastrami, liverwurst and tuna fish salad. Of course, a Reuben sandwich is not a Reuben sandwich without the use of rye bread and Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread consistently offers the best results for me, when I prepare Reuben sandwiches. As a matter of fact, through all of my many years of working as a cook/ chef in Hartford, Connecticut area restaurants, I have prepared and cooked hundreds of Reuben sandwiches and the brand of rye bread that is more often than not utilized in most restaurant kitchens where I have worked, is Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread.

There are several varieties of Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread available in retail stores.Their Hearty Rye, which is seeded with Caraway seeds, is a traditional rye bread that I find is ideal for grilled sandwiches. Their Soft Rye, which contains no seeds, is a superb complement for all types of meals, especially when slathered with butter, margarine or spread and is ideal for making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with. The Beefsteak (R) Soft Light Rye, which contains 1/3 fewer calories than regular rye bread, is a tasty diet- alternative for those watching their calories and the Beefsteak (R) Bread Pumpernickel Rye is a hearty, chewy bread that offers a classic flavor. When eating pasta with tomato sauce, I enjoy making garlic bread, using Beefsteak (R) Rye. When enjoying a bowl of raisin bran for breakfast, I find that the slightly- tangy taste of this bread is ideal when toasted, providing a delectable counterpart to the cereal. When preparing homemade croutons for salad, Beefsteak (R) Rye offers a dynamic flavor that most other breads just can’t deliver. Unlike many rye breads from supermarket bakeries, which often have brittle, or too- hard crusts, the nice soft crusts on all varieties of Beefsteak (R) Rye Breads are always very chewable and tasty.

Also unlike many bakery- varieties of rye breads, the various Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread varieties do not contain large, gaping holes, rendering large portions of the bread slices un- usable. All in all, I have to state that I have never been less than satisfied with the taste, freshness and quality of all of the Beefsteak (R) Rye Bread varieties. Nutritionally, the Beefsteak (R) Seeded Hearty Rye Bread contains 70 calories, with 10 calories from fat per one- slice serving. The Beefsteak (R) Seedless Soft Rye Bread contains 70 calories, with 10 calories from fat per one- slice serving and the Beefsteak (R) Light Soft Rye Bread contains 40 calories, with 5 calories from fat, per one- slice serving.
