You have probably never even heard of the Amputation “Diet” before. I didn’t hear of it either, until I accidentally came across it while browsing through Google in search of a new, safe diet. What I learned was quite shocking to me. I never realized that there were people who were willing to go as far as amputating their body parts to lose weight.

What Does the Amputation Diet Teach?

There are some things which can be learned from the Amputation “Diet” which do make sense. For example, it makes sense that you can lose about six ounces of weight when you decide to get a hair cut – or even more if you have a lot of hair. According to the Amputation diet, you can lose about one and a half pounds when you urinate. Both of these occurrences are very natural facts of life. Everyone has to urinate and everyone gets a haircut from time to time.

However, there are other things that the so-called diet teaches you that are very sick and twisted. You will learn that you can lose weight by amputating your arm or leg. Another one of the things that this diet encourages you to do is donate a kidney or get a breast reduction in order to just lose a few pounds. It is important to keep in mind that none of these things are completely natural. If you have a family member who needs a kidney to survive, of course you should consider donating it to them. If you experience a lot of back pain due to large breasts, you may want to consider a breast reduction. Doing either of these things to lose a few pounds, however, is very sick. Amputating an arm or a leg to lose weight is pure insanity. Is weighing less really worth not being able to function regularly? Hopefully not.

Is the Amputation Diet a Real Diet?

The Amputation “Diet” is, by no means, a real diet. A diet is typically considered something when you change your eating habits and lifestyle so that you can lose a healthy amount of weight. The Amputation “Diet” is what any sane person would consider both a sick and unhealthy way to lose weight. Even though you will lose weight by amputating body parts or doing many of the things that you will learn through the amputation diet, it is important to keep a few things in mind.

Whether you plan on following this diet’s instructions of taking laxatives, not eating for a day or amputating a body part, it is important to keep in mind that just about everything that you are recommended to do by this “diet” is not healthy or safe. While you will be losing weight, you will not be losing fat. Though you may less because you are missing an arm or leg, your overall health condition may still be poor if you have not lost weight in a healthy manner. Dieting and exercise are the main keys to weight loss – not amputating your arms and legs.
