Public Golf Courses in Sacramento

Cordova, Public Golf Course, Public Golf Courses

The Sacramento area contains many golf courses for a city of its size. Many of these courses are located only a few miles from downtown. Almost every golf course in Sacramento is both public and affordable. Some courses are very pricy and offer full service but many are more modest and affordable.

Cordova

Cordova golf course is located just a few miles from downtown Sacramento on Jackson road between Watt avenue and Bradshaw Ave. The course features a total of 18 holes but a nine-hole course is offered at an additional price. Rates generally run under $20 for the 18-hole course. A discount is offered Monday through Thursday. Please see the link section for more details.

The course contains many nice hedges with trees and is also challenging. The only real drawback of the course is its proximity to the highway.

Wildhawk

Wildhawk Golf Club lies on the outskirts of Sacramento near the city of Elk Grove. Wildhawk is about a half-hour drive from downtown. Although Wildhawk feels more like a country club, it’s an 18-hole public golf course. For 18 holes, the fee is $31 Monday through Friday and the fee jumps up $10 on the weekends. The facility contains a bar and grill, a women’s club and a seniors club.

Haggin Oaks

Haggins Oaks is a large recreation complex that contains two separate and distinct golf courses. The two courses are known as Arcade Creek and Mackenzie golf course. Each course contains 18 holes.

The Haggins Oaks facility lies of adjacent to Highway 80 between a batting cage and a car dealership. The facility does not have much of a wilderness feel, primarily because it’s so close to a major highway, but it does contain many state of the art amenities. Besides the courses, Haggins Oaks contain a wedding facility, a super shop and a bar and grill.

Campus Commons

Campus Commons is located right along the American River near Sacramento State University. Even though the course is located in an urban area, it has a very rural feel. The course is small (only nine holes) and very affordable. Fees run from $14-$16 do with a $7 repeat. Annual passes are also available. Campus Commons frequently offers specials. Bartley Cavanaugh

Built in 1995, Bartley Cavanaugh is Sacramento’s newest golf course. This up-scale course includes a restaurant, a wedding facility and a pro shop. The course is located of I-5 going south near beach lake. Bartley is known in the Sacramento area for it’s tournaments. Tournament types include fundraisers, social leagues and business. Rates can be a bit complex. Cavanaugh offers a card for discounts, but guests rates run around $40 for the 18 holes.
