Littlest Pet Shop Portable Pets: Turtle – Toy Review

Littlest Pet Shop, Pet Turtle

My niece and I have something in common. We both adore The Littlest Pet Shop Pets. I don’t know what it is about the little bobble head miniature animals, but I cannot help myself. My desk is filled with all sorts of mini creatures (at home, and at the office).

The latest Littlest Pet Shop Pet that I had a run in with was part of the Portable Pets collection. I myself do not own one, but my niece came over last night carrying a small aquarium with a Littlest Pet Shop Pet Turtle inside.

I found it to be adorable, so adorable that I wanted to steal it! Mwhahahaha!!! (I’m sooo evil!)

I couldn’t bring myself to steal a 5 year olds toy though, so I sort of just observed as I whipped out my little collection for her to play with.

The Turtle whom she named Howie, is a small green turtle with big giant eyes on the sides of his head. I think it is the giant eyes that make them so frigging cute.

Howie’s head is attached in the bobble head style, so when he is moved around his head is in constant motion. The Pet Shop Turtle came with his own aquarium, which is actually a small plastic tank.

Inside of the aquarium is a small scenery for the turtle. The scenery is done up in a cute fashion, with fake plastic sand for a floor, a small palm tree, and a very small blue lake with a lily pad which is placed to look as if it is floating.

I must say, the scenery is just as adorable as the dang turtle.

The turtle (Howie) comes with a small magnet embedded into his bottom foot, and when you place his magnetic foot onto the base of the aquarium scenery (on top of the small pink flower) a small frog pops up from it. Pretty dang cute indeed! (Oh yeah, when she’s not looking I’m so stealing it!)

Durability:

The turtle is extremely durable, and is designed for the rough play that any 5 year old can bring to it. Although the head bobbles, it will not fall off. The turtle is made of hard rubber and it’s not going to break no matter what condition it’s thrown into (I wouldn’t go sticking it in the microwave though).

Age Recommendation:

4+

The Littlest Pet Shop Pets are also geared more towards girls, which I find as odd. I don’t understand why they are not packaged in a more unisex color. Hey Hasbro…hear me out! Boys like them too, so quit putting these little pets in pink and purple boxes!

Pricing and availability:

You can find this set at any local Target, KBee Toys, Toys R US and so on, and so on. Basically wherever you go, there is bound to be Littlest Pet Shop Pets available.

My sister told me, she picked the set up at KBee for only $4.99. Not bad at all!

-For those of you whom think I am mean, I just wanted you to know I did not end up stealing her turtle! That would just be wrong!
