Movie Watcher Rewards: How to Get More Out of Your Movies!

Amc Theaters

I’ve been a MovieWatcher member for at years and I can hardly remember what it was like to go to the movies without my card in hand. If you have never heard of this, it’s time for you to get with the program! Read my article to learn more.

What is it
MovieWatcher is a 100% FREE rewards card that keeps track of your movie ticket purchases and gives you points for going to the movies! The MovieWatcher program is linked up with AMC theaters. To use your MovieWatcher card, simply hand it to the ticket agent as you purchase your movie tickets. She will swipe your card and you will usually earn 2 points for each ticket purchase. If you are purchasing on MovieTickets.com, there is a space for you to type in up to 2 MovieWatcher numbers so that you and your friend can both earn points.

After you earn a certain amount of points, you will begin to receive free rewards. Your free reward offers will be printed out along with your tickets which makes them super easy to use! There is no need to go “redeem” the rewards, they are instantly given to you once you earn the points.

Free rewards
Once you have your card, and you start using it at every purchase, you will instantly start earning rewards. There is a set reward for every 10 points you earn. Here are some of the rewards:

10 Points – free small popcorn
30 Points – free ticket OR free drink and popcorn
80 Points – free soft drink
100 Points – free Night at the Movies (free ticket, small popcorn, and small drink)

The points rotate so after you reach 100, it rolls over back to 0 again. As far as I can tell, the points do not expire. Outside of the “10s” you will also get other rewards. A common reward is to get 50 cents off any combo, but we find that one to be useless. I enjoy the offers that come up for candy because they will offer a certain candy for $1 that is usually $3.50. That’s a good deal and is the only time I will buy candy at the movies.

The website
You can go to http://www.moviewatcher.com to track your points, find theaters which will take the card, and more. Once you register your card at this site, you can create a username so that you don’t have to remember your card number. They are connected with MovieTickets.com so whenever you go to buy a ticket, it will redirect you to this other website.

Another cool feature of the website is that it allows you to see your history for the last 20 times you used the card. You can compare your total available points to the Rewards Schedule to determine what you will be getting free next time you go. You do not always know the freebie you will get, but you do know what happens at the milestones detailed above.

How to get your own MovieWatcher card
You may be thinking that you don’t need a MovieWatcher card because A) you don’t go to the movies often OR B) you only go to the AMC once in awhile and stick with other theaters. Well whatever your excuse may be, you should still get one! After all it is free and eventually you may earn enough points for a free popcorn, drink, or even a free ticket. It only takes 30 points to get a free ticket which isn’t really that hard to get. Let’s do the math. If you went to the theater with a friend you would earn 4 points. Then you go again with a friend and earn 4 more. One more visit later and you are bound to have 10 points to receive the free popcorn. See? It’s easy!
