AMC Summer Movie Camp = Free Movies for Kids!

Amc, Amc Theaters, Charlotte's Web, Movies for Kids

Going to the movies is something kids love to do, but with the cost of tickets these days (not to mention the cost of snacks and drinks at the theater), it isn’t something most families can afford to do very often. Well, thanks to AMC theaters, families in many cities can enjoy a different movie each week at their local theater–for free!

AMC Theatres are inviting kids, families, camp groups, or other organizations to their AMC Summer Movie Camp. Participation theaters are located in several different cities across the nation–Cleveland, OH; Atlanta, GA; Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Indianapolis, IN; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New Orleans, LA; New York, NY; Omaha, NE; Phoenix, AZ; Philadelphia, PA; Seattle, WA; Tulsa, OK; and many more. Check their website for exact participating theater locations here.

The AMC Summer Movie Camp is a program in which there is a different children’s movie shown at the theater each Wednesday of the summer, from June 27 through August 15 (excluding July 4). Here are the movies that are scheduled to be shown:

June 27: Happy Feet
July 11:Ice Age: The Meltdown
July 18:Barnyard: The Original Party Animals
July 25:Flushed Away
August 1:Charlotte’s Web
August 8:Open Season
August 15:Over the Hedge

AMC Theatres states on their website that the schedule and movies to be shown are subject to change; however, it isn’t likely.

If you have a group that would enjoy going to the theater for a movie–perhaps a summer camp group or a Girl Scout or Boy Scout Troop?–you can reserve free tickets one week in advance of the movie showing you would like to attend. Otherwise, if it is just a parent or a caregiver and a few kids, all you need to do is just show up at the theater. The movies all begin at 10 a.m., but you may want to try to get to the theater early–there are sure to be a lot of kids and families attending each movie, so you want to be sure that you are able to get seats. Imagine your kids’ disappointment if there aren’t any seats left by the time you arrive–that alone should motivate you to plan to be there quite early!

During the AMC Summer Movie Camp, the AMC Theatres are also offering a special AMC KidsPack for children to enjoy during the movie. The price is $3.00, and it includes one small drink, one small popcorn, and a kids’-size snack–the child gets to choose the snack and the drink. This is a lot cheaper than purchasing snacks and drinks any other way! For an additional $1.00, the KidsPack snack can be upgraded from a kids’-size to a regular size candy, again of the child’s choosing.

To make the fun of the movie experience last even beyond the theater, AMC has a couple of printables on their website that parents or caregivers can print out for kids to enjoy. The printables are movie-related and include a ‘Movie Maze’ and a ‘Word Search.’ Other activities may be added in the future.

Plan ahead, arrive early, and you and your kids will have a wonderful time at the AMC Summer Movie Camp!
