Homemade Pizza Recipes

Homemade Pizza, Pizza Recipes, Triscuits

Most people love pizza. However, it can not only get costly to order pizza, it is also not very friendly on the waistline to eat it more than once in awhile. The following are my favorite low-fat homemade pizza recipes that I myself use, so that I can still enjoy pizza more than once every few weeks.

Pita Pizzas. I like to buy Whole Wheat Pita Bread(I use the whole pita, I don’t break it in half like you normally would for pita pocket sandwiches.) and canned pizza sauce. I put two tablespoons of sauce on the top of the pita, spreading it out all over so that it isn’t too thick in spots. Then I take either low-fat shredded mozzerella cheese or shredded 2% chedder and sprinkle a bit over the top. Then I take some canned mushrooms and add a few ontop of the cheese. Lastly I like to add either some turkey pepperoni or four regular thin sliced pepperonis. Then I place the pizza in the oven for about 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

If I feel like a bbq chicken pizza, I will take two tablespoons of bbq sauce and spread it out evenly over the top of the pita. Then I will put just a tad bit of the cheese on, not a lot. Then I placed grilled chicken over the top of it and place it in the oven at 375 degrees for about ten minutes.

English Muffin Pizza. I prefer my English Muffin pizza on regular English Muffin halfs, but since I am trying to eat more whole grains, I buy whole wheat English Muffins. Like the pita pizzas, I use canned sauce. I put about one tablespoon of sauce on each muffin half and just a sprinkle of the low-fat cheese. Then I take some canned mushrooms, some sliced red bell peppers, and ground beef and put it ontop of each half. I bake them for about 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

Bisquit Pizza. Take Pilsbury Grands bisquits and press down on them in the middle so they flatten out a bit. Place your sauce, cheese and toppings on the top. Then bake for about 15 minutes according to the directions on the package.

Triscuit Pizza. This is my absolute favorite quick and easy pizza recipe. Take seven reduced-fat Triscuits and place on a cookie sheet. Plop a tiny bit of sauce on each cracker, sprinkle a tiny bit of cheese, one mushroom on each pizza and then use the new pepperonis that are bite sized and perfect for crackers. Bake in the oven for about 6 minutes at 375 degrees.

For a flat crust pizza, I like to use any type of tortilla, like whole wheat, flour or corn. Then I spread my sauce, sprinkle my low-fat cheese and put my toppings on and bake for about twelve minutes at 375 degrees. It is very crunchy and yummy, low in fat and easy to make.

These are all great alternatives to the greesy but yummy take out pizza we all love. You can make a ton of the English Muffin Pizzas, Triscuit Pizzas or Bisquit Pizzas as appetizers or full meals for company. They are also very easy to make and the ingredients do not cost a lot of money. You and your family will love them.
