Bread is one of my favorite foods and I normally consume two and a half to three loaves per week. Roughly half of the bread that I normally eat is wheat bread and lately I’ve been alternating between two excellent wheat bread varieties.

At the CVS Pharmacy located across the street from my apartment building all varieties of Nature’s Pride bread have been on sale for the past two months as a special promotion. Because of the sale price I began purchasing the Nature’s Pride bread instead of the Home Pride bread. The regular price for one loaf of this bread at CVS Pharmacy is $4.49 and the sale price has been $2.99 per loaf.

Texture / Consistency
To me, the textures of foods are very important. One of the things that I like most about Home Pride Butter Top Wheat bread is its soft yet sturdy texture. No matter what type of sandwich I’m eating Home Pride wheat bread always provides an appealing mouth-feel which helps to make the sandwich taste great.

The texture of the Nature’s Pride Whole Wheat with Honey bread is very different from that of the Home Pride wheat bread. This is a 100% natural stoneground wheat bread and its texture is denser and the slices are thicker. As with the Home Pride bread, the texture of this bread makes any type of sandwich wonderful.

Nature’s Pride Whole Wheat with Honey bread is in my opinion quite likely the best-tasting wheat bread I’ve ever eaten. No exaggeration, this bread tastes phenomenal. In appearance it is darker than the Home Pride bread and the honey lends just the right amount of sweetness to make this bread absolutely delicious.

On a flavor scale of one through ten I would assign both of these breads a rating of ten. They are both fabulous in their own right and neither bread offers any negative factors.

Home Pride Butter Top Wheat Bread is packaged in a largely yellow plastic bread bag/wrapper with a clear window on top.

Nature’s Pride Whole Wheat with Honey bread is packaged in a clear plastic bread bag/wrapper with a blue and white Nature’s Pride logo and an orange, red and white label. Several different varieties of Nature’s Pride bread are available. Be sure to read the front label carefully to ensure you’re choosing this bread.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Home Pride Butter Top Wheat bread and Nature’s Pride Whole Wheat with Honey bread are both top-rate versions of wheat bread. Although the Nature’s Pride bread is stone ground and is thicker and denser, both brands offer very satisfying flavors and textures that make any type of sandwich highly desireable.

While I do sometimes buy lower-priced brands of wheat bread, I honestly feel that the flavor, texture and overall high quality offered by these breads makes buying them worth it. If the Nature’s Pride bread was a little less expensive, I think I would eat it every day.

At any rate, Home Pride Butter Top Wheat bread and Nature’s Pride Wheat are both highly recommended by this food writer.
