Easy Desserts for Your Super Bowl Party

Cookie Mix, Easy Desserts, Ganache, Nut Allergy, Red Velvet Cake

Now that you’ve got snacks and dinner covered (see Super Snacks for the Super Bowl and Delicious Ideas for Your Super Bowl Dinner) what do you serve your guests for dessert? These five easy ideas are a guaranteed win without taking you away from the big game!

Chocolate Pecan Tassies
Chocolate pecan pie is one of my favorite desserts. However, the pie can be time consuming to make, and big slices mean you need to give your guests forks to eat their dessert Instead, buy a package of pecan tassies (available at many grocery stores in the bakery section) and top with a chocolate ganache. The tassies will be bite-sized and the chocolate ganache will make your guests think they must be homemade! For the ganache, use one part heavy cream to three parts chocolate. Heat the cream just until it boils. Remove from heat and pour through a mesh sieve over the chopped chocolate. Stir until the mixture is smooth. Allow to cool slightly before spreading a little over each tassie. For an even more homemade look, sprinkle a few chopped pecans over each tassie before the ganache has set.

Red Velvet Cake Cookies
These cookies have all the taste of the traditional Southern favorite without the need for a fork. By using a box mix as a base, much of the prep work is taken out, making these cookies a snap to prepare!

Ingredients:
1 box Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake
2 eggs
1/3 cup oil

Preheat oven to 375ºF. Combine all ingredients thoroughly. Using a cookie scoop, place balls of dough on parchment lined cookie sheets. Press tops to flatten each cookie slightly. Bake for 8-10 minutes until tops crackle. Cool then frost with one tub of cream cheese frosting.

Monster Cookies
These cookies have something for everyone – chocolate chips, chocolate candies, oatmeal, you could even add raisins if you wanted! Just make sure none of your guests have a nut allergy before offering these treats. These cookies bake up pretty big, so the dough only makes about 18 cookies. If you make smaller ones, just remember the baking time will be shorter.

Ingredients:
1 pouch Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookie mix
1 pouch Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix
1 ½ cups quick cooking oats
1 cup butter, softened
3 eggs
2 cups M&MS;

Preheat oven to 375ºF. In a large bowl, stir all ingredients except M&Ms; until a soft dough forms. Stir in M&Ms.; On a parchment lined cookie sheet, place about ¼ cup balls of dough about 3 inches apart. Bake 12-13 minutes until golden.

Peanut Butter Brownies
This may be one of the easiest “homemade” recipes ever. There are several options for making peanut butter brownies. The first is to swirl some peanut butter through a box mix brownie batter. Another is to make a box mix of brownies then add in the Nestle peanut butter and chocolate baking chips. You could also spread brownie batter in a pan and top the batter with Reese’s Pieces. Finally, pour half of the brownie batter into a prepared pan. Unwrap enough Reese’s peanut butter cups to cover the brownie batter and place them on top. Cover the Reese’s with the remaining brownie batter.

Apple Pie à la Mode
What could possibly be more American than football and Super Bowl Sunday? Apple pie of course! To make this dessert easy for you, pick up a double crust apple pie from your grocery store or local baker. Buy a premium vanilla ice cream and some caramel sauce. Heat the pie and caramel sauce before serving. Serve each guest a bowl full of apple pie with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of warm caramel. Nobody will ever know you didn’t spend all day Saturday baking this delicious pie!
