Digestive Enzymes Can Influence Weight Loss

Digestive Enzymes, Enzymes

When I first introduced my article, “Digestive Enzymes – Why Everyone Should Take Them”, I was inundated with questions about the weight loss connection with enzymes.

The fact is you cannot lose weight without the body being capable of breaking down the food you ingest and converting properly.

People struggling with weight loss who started taking digestive enzymes as a part of their daily routine have found the secret to shedding those stubborn pounds.

Imagine eating breakfast and it just sits in your stomach cooking at 98.6 degrees. When you are younger you have some digestive enzymes naturally occuring in your stomach that help to break down foods. But as you age, your ability to produce enzymes diminishes due to stress, over eating and taxing the body with foods that contain heavy additives and preservatives.

Even if you take fiber it also just sits there and cooks and then most of the food converts to fat and gas in the body.

When you take a digestive enzyme right before you eat. You then supply to your stomach the ability break down and convert food to energy and nutrition for your cells to absorb.

Let us consider what digestive enzymes are and the role each ingredient plays in converting ingested food into energy :

Digestive enzymes are 100% natural plant fibers compacted into a pressed capsule or gel cap. A good digestive enzyme should contain:

*Protease: to break down meat, nut and bean proteins in the body. This enzyme is essential to heart health because your heart is one of the most important muscles in your body. Protease plays an active role in converting food into material that helps keep your muscles healthy. People suffering with severe muscle pain and swelling from joints typically have had this onset due to a deficiency in Protease to remove the excess lactic acid in the blood that can agitate the muscles creating pain and inflammation.

Lipase: People who have high cholesterol may also be at risk for having clogged arteries. Lipase breaks down and emulsifies fat so it can be properly eliminated from the body thus playing a role in lowering cholesterol.

Amylase: Diabetics and people suffering from Hypoglycemia are deficient in the Amylase enzyme. If you love your junk food or high carbohydrate sandwiches, Your body will convert these foods into fat and sugar. Amylase breaks down the sugar in the body for proper elimination so it does not linger to affect the pancreas and insulin uptake.

Lactase: Baby cows are the only ones who can digest cows milk. Humans are not designed to digest cows milk. The dairy council pushes the sale of milk for its high Vitamin D content, but it is a fact that milk in humans converts to mucous. So if you wake up with clogged noses or have to deeply inhale to expectorate a big glob on mucous from your throat. Chances are you are deficient in Lactase. Having this deficiency can mimmick severe upper respiratory and sinus congestion due to the overproduction of mucous in the body. Taking Lactase helps to digest milk and milk protein so you can enjoy your milkshakes, cheeses, yogurts and more.

Cellulase: Your body cannot make cellulase but it needs it. When you are eating any kind of fiber or you are on a high fiber diet. You need cellulase to break down that fiber or you get very little use or benefit out of it.
Cellulase has been attributed to lowering cholesterol. Because it provides a clean sweep to the colon, it has also been noted in colon cancer research.

You can eat all the best organic food you want and take the top of the line vitamins, but without digestive enzymes all you have is the scenario of renting the food and not buying it.

Digestive enzymes actually help activate the vitamins you are taking by breaking them down getting them into the blood before they are eliminated by the body.

I personally take one digestive enzyme right before I eat and then one in the middle of my meal. Although most people just take 1-2 capsules prior to each meal or snack.

Those seeking weight loss may begin to notice some weight loss simply because the body is breaking down fats and sugars more effectively. This results in your food digesting more quickly. You then notice feeling more energy because you are absorbing the nutrients from the food you are eating.

When we see people who have large or distended abdomens, this represents the
overburdening of your organs and may result in a shortened life span, illness, and increased stress on the body. By adding digestive enzymes to the body, the abnormal aging process could be slowed. Digestive enzymes not only help nutrient absorption and stomach problems but they also relieve undue strain from the other digestive organs linked to keeping the body young and healthy such as the liver and kidneys.

Here is my two week challenge to you. Weigh yourself at the beginning of the two week trial. Take one digestive enzyme with each meal or snack you eat. At the end of the week weigh yourself. You will notice a difference in not only how you feel, but also in how you look. If you then stopped taking the enzymes after 2-3 days you will notice feeling low energy. You will then understand the vital role on how improving your digestion plays a role in receiving enhanced energy, weight loss and improving your health overall.
