CVS Pharmacy in Bakersfield, California

Cvs, Cvs Pharmacy

The new CVS pharmacy is located at 5184 Stockdale Hwy Bakersfield, CA 93309. The nearest cross street is California Avenue and they are on the same corner as Chick Fil-A and The Vitamin Shoppe.

I’d heard CVS Pharmacy praised for years by my numerous internet friends, how you could save big at CVS and that their Extra Bucks program was amazing. At times I would get envious. Why didn’t we have a CVS? I mused. Well CVS heard my pleas. A new CVS Pharamcy just opened at Stockdale Highway (with Longs turning into CVS and another new CVS on the East side of Bakersfield).

I didn’t go to CVS when it first opened. I thought about it but couldn’t see a reason too. I hadn’t seen a sale paper; didn’t need anything so why go? It wasn’t until a few days after they opened that I got a flyer in the mail that I knew I would go to CVS very soon.

The flyer had a coupon for free products as well as a $10 dollars off a $20 dollar purchase. A little note on the back said that the first 500 people who went to the store on a certain day would receive a free $10 dollar gift card. I was sold.

On June 18th, 2009 I went to CVS with one of my kids. It was 8 in the morning. I expected swarms and swarms of people to be at CVS because the giveaway had started at 7 AM. Since the economy is so bad, I thought lots of people would jump on the chance for a free ten bucks. Image my surprise when the parking lot only had a few cars in it. There were no swarms of people, there were even carts available. It was a quiet morning at the store. Upon entertaining, I saw a woman with a table. She was giving out gift cards and sample bags.

The store was smaller then I expected. It still had that new sparkly look to it and everything was nice and neat.

Right when you walk in, you go on an aisle that goes all the way back to the store. Carts are on your left hand side. There are two sides to the store. One side has stuff like hair care, lotion, greeting cards, etc while the other side has the pharmacy at the very back of the store. On the pharmacy side are aisles of medication, a small kids section, food, liquor, toilet paper, etc. The registers are at the front of the store on the right hand side as you enter. The photo lab is in the far right hand corner at the front.

Overall, I wasn’t overly impressed with CVS but I wasn’t unhappy with it either. I was very happy with the coupons but that was for a grand opening event. Only time will tell if CVS will save my family some much needed money. I would recommend this store and will go again.

CVS is open 24 hours. Their pharmacy is open everyday but not 24 hours. Their pharmacy hours are: Monday through Friday 9 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 10 AM to 6 PM. If you want to call CVS, their phone number is (661) 633-2066.
