Ideas for a new playroom could be very expansive or you could do something simple and affordable at first. You could convert your garage into a playroom if you do not live in an attached home or you can turn the basement into a den of iniquity. The idea is to make it look like a dungeon with as little money spent as possible. You can choose typical dungeon colors, which are black, red and gray, or you can be different and choose a color like blue or green. I would suggest to have floors painted with non slip paints and that the paint is done long before you actually start using the dungeon.
You will need to go to yard sales and look for old dog cages, futons, doghouses, shelving etc. The base of a futon is a perfect rack when mounted on a wall. Make sure it is mounted securely and that you have space to secure your submissive with restraints anywhere you wish to on the rack. You will use the rack for flogging and other forms of impact play. You could get this really cheaply. Dog cages and dog houses can be used for caging and you can even make a dog house pretty by painting your submissive’s name on it and placing a bolt in the floor close by where you can attach the leash.
You will need bolts in the ceiling and in the wall and floor in several places to be able to attach chain and your submissive to that chain. You can build an easy spanking bench and St Andrew’s cross – there are many online plans for this. All you need to do is google the terms and you will find several cheap ways of doing it. You will definitely be making trips to home depot.
Buy shelving and place your toys out on the shelves. Make sure that sex toys are encased in some form of protection. Sort toys by type of play or torture and mark each area with a different color-coded dot. Have several bolts against the walls for hanging canes, whips and floggers. The leather of these is better maintained if they hang and it also allows the tails and other pieces of leather to dry out more quickly after a scene if you have had to disinfect it.
Place a box filled with rice or coarse gravel in the corner of your play room and make sure that the submissive knows that this area is for punishment purposes. Cover the box when you are not in the dungeon and open it when you enter so it becomes clear to the submissive that you will not hesitate to use it if he or she disobeys.
Rope must be rolled up properly and stored in separate transparent bags to protect it as the rope is sometimes used in rather sensitive areas.
Make sure that the area is temperature controlled in some way as you do not want to be uncomfortable and most importantly, you do not want the sub, who would be naked to be exposed to illness because of extreme temperatures. If possible, make sure that there is a shower or bathroom close by in order for both of you to be able to clean up after scene. With a bath close by, you can also use it for some exceptional aftercare. Never leave the submissive alone in a bath after a scene though, especially when the submissive flew. You never know what might happen.
There are lots of things you can do to make a dungeon attractive and effective. All you need to do is to use your imagination and to have fun with it.
