Match Ralph Lauren Paint to Benjamin Moore Paint

Bamboo Blinds, Benjamin Moore, Benjamin Moore Paint, Ralph Lauren

We’ve often had to find or match shades and colors of both Ralph Lauren and Benjamin Moore Paints. Because of this, I’ve learned which colors are nearly identical to each other. Based on your budget, room decor and other needs, you should be able to find the perfect choice with either paint to suit your decor. I’ll provide tips to help you find perfect – or near perfect -matches for both brand names.

Here’s how we matched Ralph Lauren Home paints and Benjamin Moore colors to create several distinctive and appealing home decorating ideas:

First, we went to both Ralph Lauren and Benjamin Moore retailers in our area to find brochures, ideas and home decorating projects that would work for us. This was a crucial step as we could not only see the paint colors on the paint chips but get some small samples to take home and use as home wall paint samples and on accent trim in the rooms.

Price difference between the two brands

On a per gallon basis, Ralph Lauren is often less expensive, especially with sales or promotional offers.

Ralph Lauren Paints that Match Benjamin Moore Paints and Home Decorating Ideas and Color Schemes

Now you are ready to start having some fun! We particularly liked Benjamin Moore’s Pottery Barn Colors since we have a number of Pottery Barn bookshelves and other accent items. It just made sense to have paint made to complement our purchases. We were very pleased to discover that we could get Ralph Lauren Paints that matched the Benjamin Moore colors and also suited our Pottery Barn purchases.

This allowed us to find the best quality colors in price ranges we liked, depending sale prices, special sales or other choices.

Here were our top seven choices for matching Ralph Lauren Paints to Benjamin Moore Paints:

But first….always remember that an exact match is not always necessary. Here is why: your room will have its own level of lighting and that may vary through the day. Unless you are painting a space with super bright lighting at all hours of the day, a close match in paint colors will often fool the eye and look nearly identical, if not absolutely identical. You can save money by comparing each color in that room and seeing if you notice enough of a difference to justify paying more per gallon.

Choice One color match: Benjamin Moore Roasted Sesame Seed to Ralph Lauren Kayak Yellow

We used both Benjamin Moore paint and Ralph Lauren paint in this colors and liked each one. We could vary the tint to make the color a bit darker or lighter – and we did.

This was a perfect combination, one we used in our living room to create an eclectic room with classic touches and a slight Arts and Crafts look. The golden sheen of the colors set off the natural river rock fireplace in the room perfectly. It also served as a great accent color for our Pottery Barn bookshelves, candles and our own vintage books. If you check the photos with this article, you should see examples of that.

Tip: If you have built in bookcases, consider painting the backs of them the same color as your walls but have your paint dealer tint the color three shade darker. This will add depth and interest to that area of the room. A decorator suggested this and it was a super idea. Our books and decorative accessories, from candles to Homer Laughlin china, just pops out from the background color.

Benjamin Moore’s Silvery Blue was an excellent choice for one boy’s bedroom. We used it as an accent color on one wall and painted the woodwork deep black, making the blue “pop” in contrast. Along with a traditional bed, a computer desk and closets with the back walls colored with the matching Ralph Lauren Blue Mesa, our son ended up with a lovely bedroom, masculine and with crisp accent colors. A shelf placed over his main window and black blinds kept the look contemporary and hip for a teenager.

Choice three: Benjamin Moore Fairview Taupe matched with Ralph Lauren Regiment Khaki: excellent for bedrooms and bathrooms

We were amazed to see how well this set off our bedroom set. It had formerly been a dated and old wooden color. First, we used the Benjamin Moore Fairview Taupe on the walls and the Ralph Lauren in the bathroom. They looked identical! Then we painted our trim a white color, remade our matching set of bedside tables by painting them black and added a large black headboard. Voila! A room makeover for very little cost.

Since this is a nice neutral shade, the possibilities are endless. You could simply cover over an old or dated storage container or redo an entire room. This looks very nice with many shades of beige and gray trim colors, as well as new or traditional bathroom lights. If you have wooden floors, you might consider a black accent rug to offset the walls. This will add weight and a sense of balance to the room. Surprisingly, accent chairs in shades ranging from muted yellow to animal prints can all work with this color scheme. Curtains should be light and airy or not there at all, if you have a private view.

Choice four: Benjamin Moore Bordeax Red matched with Ralph Lauren Amalfi Red: think of rich wines and stunning sunsets

This shade is a deep, nearly maroon or wine red, quite lovely. Because this is a deep color, you might want to limit it to one accent wall and use a lighter shade of the color or even a neutral shade on the other walls. Do consider the way this color will soak up light when deciding which how to use it as part of your home decorating scheme. We used it on an accent wall and it seemed to glow but did add a darker tone to the room, distinctively cozy and warm. This is a color that works best in autumn and winter but we like it year round.

If you want to make a bold statement, consider pairing this with a strong accent color on the ceiling. from a neutral gray to another shade of red, same tone and color but a bit lighter. Take a chance. If you don’t like it, you can paint over it, unlike the new sofa that could have been a major investment. In a bathroom, this is a lovely accent on the walls when contrasted with a neutral tub, sink, lighting fixtures and counter tops. Again, remember that the wall paint color may be your major focal point.

Think summer. Think beaches and sunny days drinking exotic drinks under the sun. That is how you’ll feel when you use these shades of blue. Keep it casual and you’ll discover how light and airy these colors can be. Your spirits will life immediately if you enter a room with these colors. We used these colors on kitchen walls, using the Ralph Lauren Aegean Blue set against white cabinets and darker hardware on our cabinets. A few candles, some fresh fruit in a clear glass bowl on our kitchen table and contemporary hanging lights set the mood.

Go with bamboo blinds and place mats to continue the casual feel.

Alternate decorating ideas for these colors: living room or bedroom

Keep the wall color the same and then use neutrals for the curtains, preferably in light or dark shades of brown as blues and browns are very common….still. A white accent chair or two would keep the light and airy casual decorating scheme going. Display some seashells, pine cones or anything you’ve found in nature, including discarded bird nests.

Final Color Try Benjamin Moore Audubon Russet and match to Ralph Lauren Hot Orange: versatile and with lasting appeal for classic or contemporary home decorating.

This is a classic or contemporary home decorating color scheme. We went with the Ralph Lauren Paint. I have to confess I fell in love with this color. It not only adds a strong statement to walls or trim but it pairs beautifully with a wide range of accent colors in both furniture and room accessories, from lamps to sculpture. It works amazingly well with animal prints or solid covered throws or bedspreads. Try it with the right shade of green and you’ve got a stunning color combination.

Suggested decorating ideas for Benjamin Moore Audubon Russet and Ralph Lauren Hot Orange: small rooms with pizazz.

While you may find this odd, this color works really well in guest bathrooms and small bedrooms. Just be sure you keep accent pieces small so that the room color doesn’t seem claustrophobic. A light or white accent rug, clear or small side lamps (or one small lamp in a bathroom), select accessories such as a small bud vase with one flower and swirling or curvy lines to lamps and furniture keep the eye moving and take away from the small room size.
