Now you are ready to start having some fun! We particularly liked Benjamin Moore’s Pottery Barn Colors since we have a number of Pottery Barn bookshelves and other accent items. It just made sense to have paint made to complement our purchases. But first….always remember that an exact match is not always necessary. Here is why: your room will have its own level of lighting and that may vary through the day. Unless you are painting a space with super bright lighting at all hours of the day, a close match in paint colors will often fool the eye and look nearly identical, if not absolutely identical. Choice One color match: Benjamin Moore Roasted Sesame Seed to Ralph Lauren Kayak Yellow
We used both Benjamin Moore paint and Ralph Lauren paint in this colors and liked each one. We could vary the tint to make the color a bit darker or lighter – and we did.
This was a perfect combination, one we used in our living room to create an eclectic room with classic touches and a slight Arts and Crafts look. For a warm, inviting living or family room, use the base color on the walls and trim the doors and windows in any bright shade of white paint you like. Polished hardwood floors, matching traditional or contemporary armchairs facing your sofa and a black accent table or lamps with matching dark bases look striking against the wall colors. We were amazed to see how well this set off our bedroom set. It had formerly been a dated and old wooden color. First, we used the Benjamin Moore Fairview Taupe on the walls and the Ralph Lauren in the bathroom. They looked identical! Then we painted our trim a white color, remade our matching set of bedside tables by painting them black and added a large black headboard. Voila! A room makeover for very little cost.

Since this is a nice neutral shade, the possibilities are endless. You could simply cover over an old or dated storage container or redo an entire room. This shade is a deep, nearly maroon or wine red, quite lovely. Because this is a deep color, you might want to limit it to one accent wall and use a lighter shade of the color or even a neutral shade on the other walls. Do consider the way this color will soak up light when deciding which how to use it as part of your home decorating scheme. We used it on an accent wall and it seemed to glow but did add a darker tone to the room, distinctively cozy and warm. This is a color that works best in autumn and winter but we like it year round.

We used these colors on kitchen walls, using the Ralph Lauren Aegean Blue set against white cabinets and darker hardware on our cabinets. Alternate decorating ideas for these colors: living room or bedroom
Keep the wall color the same and then use neutrals for the curtains, preferably in light or dark shades of brown as blues and browns are very common….still. A white accent chair or two would keep the light and airy casual decorating scheme going. Display some seashells, pine cones or anything you’ve found in nature, including discarded bird nests.

This is a classic or contemporary home decorating color scheme. We went with the Ralph Lauren Paint. I have to confess I fell in love with this color. It not only adds a strong statement to walls or trim but it pairs beautifully with a wide range of accent colors in both furniture and room accessories, from lamps to sculpture. It works amazingly well with animal prints or solid covered throws or bedspreads. Try it with the right shade of green and you’ve got a stunning color combination.

While you may find this odd, this color works really well in guest bathrooms and small bedrooms. Just be sure you keep accent pieces small so that the room color doesn’t seem claustrophobic. A light or white accent rug, clear or small side lamps (or one small lamp in a bathroom), select accessories such as a small bud vase with one flower and swirling or curvy lines to lamps and furniture keep the eye moving and take away from the small room size.
