Cat's Claw, Essiac Tea, pau d'arco

Cancer patients and their caregivers find themselves in a very difficult and frightening position. Most people are frantically searching for any help they can find, trying all types of remedies, hoping to find a cure. Is there any truth to what you read on the Internet, or are all these alternative cancer remedies giving people false hope?

The answer can be found by researching scientific reports, to see what testing has been done on these remedies, and if there is any proven efficacy.

There are literally thousands of documents and reports on most natural remedies, some you may have heard of and some, which may be completely new to you. Much of this important research does not receive any publicity. Alternative remedies are comparatively cheap, and widely available. Many can be grown in your garden, or bought at your local supermarket, pharmacy or health food store for just a few dollars.

Due to the increasing amount of information available on the Internet, there is a growing number of people choosing to use alternative remedies, not just for cancer, but all types of diseases. As more people join this “revolution” and the knowledge spreads, it will eventually have a significant impact on the way disease is treated in the future.

Not since the invention of the printing press has there been such an explosion of information available to ordinary people, as there is now on the Internet. Although it is illegal for manufacturers of natural remedies to label or advertise that their products can actually cure anything, people are trying these products and finding out for themselves.

For as many articles that state the wonders of alternative remedies, there are others that state that people are wasting their time and money on these useless, unproven products. Who is right? Do the research and find out for yourself.

A good place to start is http://www.pubmed.gov a service of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health. Here you will find all kinds of research, performed by scientists across the globe.

Search terms may be topics, authors or journals. You can set up an account to save your searches and have new updates e-mailed directly to you.

In the search box, labeled “for” type in the name of the product, compound and or disease that you wish to research. For example enter “berberine cancer”. In the Display box, scroll down to AbstractPlus, then click “go”. This will give you the titles, authors, and a brief summary of the research, followed by the conclusion.

Some of this research uses a lot of scientific terms you may not understand. Wikipedia is a good resource to use to find out what some of these terms mean. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org Looking up “in vivo” in Wikipedia, you will find that it states “In science, in vivo refers to experimentation done in or on the living tissue of a whole, living organism as opposed to a partial or dead one. Animal testing and clinical trials are forms of in vivo research.

Another good source of information is http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov, an Archive Of Biomedical And Life Sciences Journal Literature at PubMed Central. Here you can see complete articles, the abstracts of articles or pdf files .

It may not be easy to understand the information, at first but it is well worth your time and effort to keep on trying. I read one book in which the author stated that you should learn so much about your cancer, that you know more than your oncologist. At first, this may seem crazy, but it really is amazing how much information is available to help you make informed decisions about your treatment.

Check you local library for books and information on your disease, there are some wonderful, informative books out there. New and used books are also be available online.

I hope that you find your cure and when you do, be sure to share the information!
