Total Gym 1700 Club: A Review

Back Exercises, Leg Exercises, Total Gym

The Total Gym 1700 Club by Fitness Quest is the best workout machine I have ever bought. It’s versatile. There are hundreds of exercises you can do on it. It’s convenient. It folds compactly so you can store it easily. It’s fun. Even if you put it away you will want to take it out to workout on it every day.

You can gain strength, tone and tighten flabby areas, and increase flexibility with this machine. Have you been looking to buy an all over body exercise machine? This is the one.

I had seen the Total Gym infomercials on TV and just brushed it off. I thought it would be flimsy and not live up to the spiel on the show. I discovered I was wrong. I happened to be shopping at a local Academy Sports and Outdoors with my husband and there was one on display. I checked it out and found it to be very sturdy, easy to maneuver, and adjustable for variable workouts.

Being the skeptic I am I did not buy it on a whim, I wanted to do more research. I scoured the Internet for reviews and pricing information. Most of what I could find complimented the Total Gym.

There are many varieties of the machine to choose from: the original Total Gym, Total Gym 1100, Total Gym 1500, the Total Gym 1700, and there are even professional models. Each has different attachments for different types of exercise. Pricing ranges from $200 to into the thousands.

I read all I could and decided I could get the best bang for my buck with the 1700 Club model. It has all of the versatility of the sister models with an added bonus of a Pilate’s bar. Not only could I get the resistance training I wanted; I could gain the flexibility of a good Pilate’s workout without an additional machine.

It comes with everything you need to get started. You will get a pull up bar, push up attachments, a Pilate’s foot bar, a pulley attachment for leg exercises, a pulley attachment for excellent abdominal, arm, shoulder, and back exercises, and a bar for adding extra weights-but you must buy the weights separately. Also, a guide with pictorial instructions and a video is included.

Additionally, the gym works for my husband. It is adjustable to six levels of workouts. Each workout uses your body weight for resistance and strength training. There are also weight bars to add extra weight and kick it up a notch. Perfect for men and women alike.

When I finally decided it was time to purchase this machine, I found in retail stores the club model sold for about $400. A little pricey for a family living on one income and a limited budget. I went back to the Internet. The Total Gym web site was offering it for a $49 thirty-day trial or buy it for $399. An offer they are still running today.

That sounded like a great deal to try it before you buy it. But I’m cheap. I wanted the deal of a lifetime. Persistence paid off. I found a brand new one on an auction site with a warranty and a satisfaction guarantee. You can’t beat that. I joined the bidding war and I won! I paid a little over $200 total for my Total Gym 1700 Club.

I’ve had my machine for two years. I love it! I use it just about every day. Twenty minutes is really all it takes to reap many benefits. If you’re in the market for an exercise machine, I suggest trying the Total Gym 1700 Club.
