A Caesars Pocono Resort Honeymoon in Pennsylvania

When my husband and I were planning our wedding, one of the first questions on our minds was where we were going to spend our honeymoon. We could go to Europe or we could head down to Florida to check out Disney World or Universal Studios. After sifting through piles of brochures, it occurred to us that all we really wanted in a honeymoon destination was a beautiful and romantic room where we could close the blinds and escape from the rest of the world. We were looking for a honeymoon just for the two of us – for romance and intimacy and enjoying our first week as husband and wife. Both of us thought it would be perfect if we could find a room with a pool in it or at least a big hot tub. After a few Google searches, I found our dream honeymoon destination – Caesars Pocono Resorts — and one of their locations was just about an hour from our home in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Caesars Pocono Resorts had amenities that surpassed our wildest expectations. Their Champagne Tower suites feature a seven-foot tall champagne glass whirlpool, a heart-shaped heated indoor pool, a log-burning fireplace, a dry sauna room, a massage table, a large round bed with celestial ceilings above, and much more. This was the place for me and my husband for sure. After all, how often do you get to sip champagne while sitting in a massive champagne glass? We booked a week in the Champagne Towers by Cleopatra suite at Caesars’ Cove Haven location in Lakeville, Pennsylvania. At about five-hundred dollars per night, we were confident that we were going to have an absolutely amazing honeymoon.

Our check-in time was 3:00 in the afternoon, but we arrived a little after 6:00 because we didn’t bother to pre-pack before the wedding. Instead of having dinner in their restaurant on our first night, we decided to order room service. Whoa! The prices were seriously inflated – but we just thought, “oh well, we’re on our honeymoon, so we’re prepared to splurge.” We ordered a strawberries and cream platter for forty dollars – and while that’s a hefty fee, the strawberries were fresh and delicious and the cream was mouth-watering. We had been provided with a welcoming basket in our room since we were honeymooners – two small bottles of sparkling wine, a photo album, a log for the fireplace, and a very large bottle of bubble bath (my husband and I just celebrated our one-year anniversary and we still have more than half of the bottle of bubble bath left!).

Forget about the extras and the steep menu prices, though – the room itself was unreal. I felt like a pop star. It was huge and regal and immaculately cleaned. The first thing we noticed upon entering our suite was the champagne glass whirlpool – and we were very excited to find out how you actually go about getting into the massive glass. It turns out that the rim of the back-half of the glass is flush with the floor in the upstairs bathroom, so all you have to do is just step in. Next we marveled at the heated pool, which was on the lower level of our room, separated by glass walls from the rest of the suite. The heart-shaped pool was even larger than we had imagined it would be based on the pictures we saw – it was a very pleasant surprise. The walls of the pool area were elegantly painted with Romanesque murals and mirrors.

While there were many amenities offered throughout the resort, such as pools and spa services and live entertainment and comedy acts, my husband and I soaked up the true essence of what a honeymoon should be – we didn’t leave the room once until it was time to check out! With so many extravagant features inside our own suite, there wasn’t anything that was going to pry us from our perfect seclusion. We ordered room-service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.

I highly recommend Caesars Pocono Resorts for couples and honeymooners who are looking for a private and supremely romantic getaway. My only advice would be to bring along some drinks so that you can store them in your mini-refrigerator rather than having to pay for them through the resort since the prices are so high. You also might want to bring along a fold-up mattress pad, because although the novelty of the round bed is a fun thought, the bed is actually pretty rigid and uncomfortable (but hey, how much sleeping is actually done on a honeymoon anyway!?). Other than those points, I have no complaints – and my husband and I will definitely be back at Caesars to celebrate many anniversaries in the years to come!
