StarKist Low Sodium tuna in pouches takes up less space in my pantry, but that’s not what I love best about the tuna.
For my review, I tried the StarKist low sodium chunk light tuna and Albacore white tuna in pouches. They are awesome because they require no draining!
One of the things I don’t like about making tuna is the mess. With the pouches, I just tore open the top at the notch, shook it loose into a bowl and mixed with other ingredients for my recipes and sandwiches.
I loved using the tuna for wraps made with Ezekiel tortillas and sandwiches made with Ezekiel bread and served with the organic Late July Mild Mojo chips. It also pairs nicely with Select Harvest minestrone soup.
Although I’m more of a fan of the chunk light tuna, the Albacore white tuna was also tasty and moist. It has a fresh taste and is not too salty or “fishy” tasting. Here are some things to know about the products by StarKist:

No. 3: StarKist Low Sodium Tuna nutritional information: The Albacore has 30 mg of cholesterol, 70 mg sodium, 190 mg potassium, no fiber, no carbohydrate and 21 grams of protein. The light tuna has 30 mg of cholesterol, 130 mg sodium, 190 mg potassium, .5 grams of fiber, .5 gram of carbohydrate and 19 grams of protein.
No. 4: StarKist Low Sodium tuna in pouches ingredients: The Albacore pouch contains white tuna, water and vegetable broth. The light tuna pouch contains light tuna, water and vegetable broth.

According to the package, the product meets the American Heart Association’s food criteria for saturated fat and cholesterol for healthy people older than age 2.
If you are pregnant or feeding a child, I highly recommended you choose the chunk light tuna instead of the Albacore, which officials say contains more mercury.
I love tuna because it provides not only Omega-3, but also helps me concentrate because of the high amount of protein. For those on a low-carb diet , nothing beats a carbohydrate-free food such as tuna! For dieting purposes, try mixing it with low-fat mayonnaise or a mixture of half mayonnaise and half Greek yogurt. Add diced celery, onions, pickles, hard boiled eggs to taste.
For taste, nutrition and convenience, I give the StarKist low sodium chunk light and Albacore tuna in pouches 4.9 out of 5 stars.
