Sheer Cover has been sought to be one of America’s leading mineral foundation(s). Containing zero fragrance, preservatives, or other harmful materials that may clog your pores, one would conclude this makeup is indeed beneficial to your skin. These accusations are entirely true.
I myself, recently ordered this product a week ago, and received my shipment today. However, I was skeptical to say the least. I’ve always been one to research my product based on consumer usage and overall quality, and to my surprise I was lead to a review page that had over fourteen pages of mixed reviews. Some claimed the foundation itself appeared cakey and mask- like, as opposed to the others whom claimed this was the best product they have ever used. To say the least, I was mortified at a vast majority of the reviews, and was nearly regretting my purchase, but I remained positive, and was rewarded in the end.
Now, I had purchased the starter kit, only $29.95 for one month to a month and a half’s supply. The price seemed reasonable, so I figured I may as well give it a try. The starter kit is indeed small however includes a variety of products; The duo conceal, two different shades of sheer cover mineral powder, assorted container of lip gloss, eye shadow, and highlighters, mineral mascara, studio brushes, conditioning cleanser and moisturizer, pocket duo, Lip to lid 6 day 6 ways to wear it sample foundations, DVD tricks and demos, instruction guide, and the Sheer Cover kit carry bag. Bear in mind, this is a STARTER KIT, I had purchased, so the overall quantity of foundation is nearly tripled when purchasing the entire kit itself, which sells at a retail of $97.50. This may appear expensive, but I can assure you is indeed worth the cost.
Application Process
Sheer Cover is synonymous for relatively quick and fairly easy application, claiming to take no more than five to ten minutes to apply. The process itself is explained thoroughly within the kit’s enclosed instructions as well as the DVD that not only describes the proper techniques to use when applying, but demonstrations of the application on first time customers, serving as visual aids. The process is not time consuming after you have applied it once ( have gotten the technique down) and will become fun every time.
For me, the application average time was a bit longer then and the infomercials had suggested. I have some discoloration in my skin, am fairly light, and am prone to breakouts during my menstrual cycle, thus having many areas to cover. The most time consuming technique to master is finding the perfect color match for your skin. When you order Sheer Cover, you obviously select your shade; When delivered, your 2 mineral foundations include the shade you selected for your skin and another shade to mix with the one you chose, which makes finding a perfect color match simple. Blending two foundations together normally would be messy and require scrubbing the counters, but the pocket duo container included in the kit has the duo conceal on top, then an empty area beneath it, that enables you to put your perfect match Sheer Cover inside a new, tight – sealed container. For my fair skin, I was more partial to the bisque’ shade, and shied away from the nude. It truly is a swirl, tap, and buff on process; Beginning from the outside and working your way into center has proven to be the best technique thus far. The key thing about Sheer Cover is understanding that a little goes a long way! The minerals itself are very light weight, and can produce a cake on look If you reapply it habitually. Trust me, there is no need to reapply this. Once applied, Sheer Cover absorbs into your skin, and believe it or not, makes your skin feel incredibly soft.
Sheer Cover is by far the best foundation I have ever used. When applying this product I do not feel as though I am putting on a mask that I know by the end of the day will look disgusting. The minerals, as stated above, are so light-weight you feel as though you don’t have any make up on. The Duo concealer included in the kit, is a cream based mineral formula, for certain spots such as blemishes, dark circles, or discoloration on the skin. This duo concealer is amazing! The best part being that the mineral powder does not produce that cakey look when applied after the duo concealer has been used. I have used liquid foundation all my life, from Covergirl to Clinique, I have tried all and been dissatisfied with every product. Nothing I had used before provided me with the intense coverage I needed, until now. The cleansers and moisturizer are very gentle, great for sensitive skin, and the cleanser works wonderfully as a make up remover for eye cosmetics. Sheer Cover includes this mineral extra – lengthening mascara; I love it. Mind you, it is a tiny tube (starter kit). My eyelashes do not feel brittle, and my eyes do not water because of irritation, the color is not an exaggerated black; A natural, healthy look is achieved, which is the most beautiful. I have yet to use the eyeshadows included in the kit, my husband prefers a natural look, so I respect that. The eye shadow looks to be a few common colors, cream based, very silky to touch. The lip gloss as well is very silky to touch and lasts for a long time. Three shades, a maroon, natural pink, and a darker pink are just the thing you need to pull your natural Sheer Cover look together.
The studio brushes included in the kit are pretty nice. The concealer brush is my absolute favorite. Often used for the duo concealer, this brush allows one to dominate the level of coverage in certain areas and boy does it blend well! The kabuki brush isn’t the best in the world, that being my only complaint about this product; But hey it’s just an application brush, any will really do. The medium brush works great! I generally use it to blend the minerals under my eyes or in other small areas that I had applied additional duo concealer to. Easy application, beautiful finish, and a natural, healthy look, it just can’t get any better.
Coverage
Generally foundation can’t be limited to just one specific area; You end up dealing with discoloration, that terrible two-tone jaw line and overall a pancake look. I have used liquid, other mineral products such as Bare Minerals (did not work for me at all) Clinique, Covergirl, Mary Kay, you name it, all producing discoloration when put in certain areas, thus producing an overall dissatisfied appearance, and terrible complexion, who wants that?
Sheer Cover is not like that! The coverage is absolutely amazing and can be applied to only certain areas without the two-tone worry. I was shocked that even applying the duo concealer cream and then the mineral powder didn’t produce a caked on look. The two work hand in hand to complete that natural finish. I will NEVER go back to using liquid foundation. I actually became addicted to the caked on feeling of liquid foundation, that whenever I tried reducing a caked on look and resorted to powder, I was still self conscious because it felt as though I had zero coverage. This foundation is better than any liquid or off brand mineral powder available. I have to remind myself that I am in fact wearing a foundation, how amazing is that?
Concerns you May have about Sheer Cover
Whenever purchasing a new product, I do a bit of research about how it performs, the rating, consumer reports, etc. I was mortified about some of the things women were claiming about Sheer Cover. Some were claiming that they had breakouts, little red bumps from the Mineral Powder. I find this hard to believe due to Sheer Cover containing hypo allergic particles. Others claimed that it appeared chalky, or pan cake like, this frightened me. Ladies, the only way a MINERAL powder could possibly appear caked on is over application, plain and simple. I couldn’t believe the things I was reading, it was absolutely terrible. However, other users of Sheer Cover claimed they absolutely love the product and had no issues what so ever with the foundation. After using this product, I can honestly say that if you follow the instructions and actually watch the instructional DVD you cannot possibly fail and end up like these dissatisfied customers.
Customer Service complaints were absolutely horrendous. Many Sheer Cover users complained that Sheer Cover charged them for three month supplies, which IS enlisted on the website. All you have to do is call Customer Service and request that you do not want the Membership (which automatically sends you a 90 day supply every three months). It is that simple. You even receive a conformation email stating that you are on a mailing list for the three month supply. These ladies complaining obviously do not read the information given. Complaints about the Customer Service being rude were numerous. I had spoken to two Customer Service Representatives today; One issue being I did not want to be charged every 90 days because I did not know how I would like the product, seeing as how this is the first time using it. They were fantastic, no problems, no pressure, a simple cancellation, and that was it. The second issue being, I wanted a little bit darker mineral powder, and they offered to send it to me absolutely free!! Without even having to send the other back. If that is terrible Customer Service, I hope every Company I ever purchase items from treats me horribly! Rating : Ladies, please do not be discouraged about this product. I nearly fainted when I read some of these accusations, they simply are not true. Try it for yourself, and I guarantee you will love it. I am in no shape way or form a Sheer Cover Representative, just a more than satisfied customer who feels beautiful in her own skin. My husband despises make up, and he even likes it. By the way, I tested Sheer Cover on my clothing and a paper towel. This stuff does NOT rub off easily. I nearly had to scrub my face on the paper towel to get this to come off. Absolutely great!!! A little goes a long way, and if you can see the Mineral Powder on a paper towel or clothing use less, I promise the coverage will not be less than satisfying. Hope this helps those who wish to try this but are skeptical due to other’s ignorance.
