Sea Salt for a Healthy Body

Body Scrubs, Gourmet Cooking, Salt Scrub, Sea Salt

According to Wikipedia, sea salt is evaporated seawater. There are several places that harvest sea salt from the Cayman Islands to France to Italy. It is often used for gourmet cooking. While it is a great additive for delicious dishes, sea salt is an excellent additive for the good health of our bodies.

Sea salt is often the main ingredient of many body scrubs that are on the market. Even I have used sea salt to make my own body scrubs to help purify my skin. This is one of the great things about sea salt. It can be used for purification of the skin and the entire body – inside and out.

One of the main ways I use sea salt to help purify my body is by taking sea salt baths. All I do is pour about ½ cup to 1 cup of sea salt into warm bathwater. Then I soak for about fifteen to twenty minutes. I usually take the sea salt bath after taking a regular bath. It is very soothing to the skin and body. The sea salt draws out toxins that are in our bodies. Many people take sea salt baths while they are on a detox diet because it helps the process along by escorting the toxins out of the body.

I’ve also noticed that sea salt does not dry out my skin at all. I would like to say that to please exercise caution if you have issues with your blood pressure. You do not want too much salt absorbing into your skin at one time, even if it is diluted in the bathwater. And make sure the water is warm, not too hot which can also effect the circulation in your body as well as the blood pressure levels.

Another wonderful way to use sea salt is to use it for the skin. Sea salt scrub is also very helpful. I wrote another article that’s here on AC on cleansing the skin with a sea salt scrub. Please refer to it to get the sea salt scrub recipe. It’s an excellent way to cleanse your skin. Simply rub the sea salt scrub on your body, leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes, get into a warm bath, and soak for fifteen to twenty minutes.

Sea salt in combination with purifying essential oils such as lavender, eucalyptus, or chamomile makes a superb mixture for the skin. Sea salt scrub mixtures can also be tossed into the bathwater to dissolve. When the salt and oils disburse into the water it makes for a very nice soothing bath that leaves your skin smooth and soft.

For those of you into rituals and ceremonial type of decorations in your home, you can put some sea salt into a nice bowl, chalice, or other decorative dish and place it on your favorite table in your favorite room as a symbol of purification and the earth to bring cleansing and grounding to your home.

Sea salt is a versatile ingredient. I suggest you do more research on it and go to your local health food store. You can even buy sea salt in containers at the regular grocery stores these days as well.

So grab some sea salt and get purified.
