Moisturizers for normal/slightly dry skin can be sometimes hard to find. Sometimes, the moisturizers for oily skin do not offer enough moisture retention, but those for drier skin can be too oily and feel greasy. But I think the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is a fairly good balance.
The cream itself comes in a simple pot with a white cream. It is unassuming, plain and simple. But the packaging works well enough for me. It may, however, be a concern to those people who are worried about hygiene, as you may have to dip your fingers into the pot to keep using it. But if you simply keep your hands clean and don’t contaminate the container, you should be fine.
The cream does not have a fragrance, which is good for those with sensitive skin or are sensitive to scents. The cream itself is white and seems to be of a normal consistency. But on the skin, it is very light, which prevents the moisturizer from feeling very heavy and greasy on my skin. Even so, I can feel that this moisturizer is very moisturizing. I love how it makes my skin feel smooth and nourished. It restores moisture in dry patches of skin, and like the container claims, lasts a very long time. I usually only need to apply this moisturizer once a day. A little does go a long way, so you don’t need to apply a lot to get the full benefits of this product.
I would not recommend this product for oily skin because it will probably be too heavy and cause your face to be oily, and it could worsen breakouts. It is best to try this product if you have normal to dry skin.
But the one thing that I do not like about this moisturizer is the price. While Kiehl’s is a rather expensive brand, this cream moisturizer is $24.50 for a 1.7 oz container! This is much more than I have ever paid for a moisturizer. It is much more than I pay for Clinique’s 3-step moisturizing gel and lotion. I do not think that this moisturizer is particularly unique or offers anything incredibly special. Yes, it is a good moisturizer, but there are lots of other similar quality moisturizers that will offer the same effects for a much cheaper price.
If money is not a problem for you, by all means, purchase this product. I highly recommend the product itself, but I do not think it is special or unique enough for me to repurchase at such a high price.
