Review of Rudi’s Organic Bakery Organic Spelt English Muffins

Healthy Bread

We have a pretty strict grocery budget that doesn’t allow a lot of room for new items but I managed to try out some organic english muffins. English muffins are not something that I normally get on a regular basis and so just getting english muffins was a treat and the fact that they were organic was just icing on the cake. The particular kind that I got were Rudi’s Organic Bakery Organic Spelt English Muffins. Previously I had tried various breads from this brand that included, French Bread, Whole Wheat Bread and Oat Bread and was very happy with the company. I was relatively new to spelt only recently trying Spelt Hamburger Buns from the same company. I was very excited to try out the english muffins and had some high hopes.

The Rudi’s Organic Bakery Organic Spelt English Muffins came in a box that was wrapped in a bag. There were six english muffins total and the package cost three dollars and ninety nine cents. I found them in the section of a rather pricey health food department of one of the grocery stores that I shop at. The loaves of bread were more expensive in this store than in other grocery stores where they were carried. This has me thinking that in the right store you could find these english muffins for cheaper. Although four dollars was quite a bit to spend on these english muffins I figured that it would just be a one time thing and I would likely really enjoy it. Thankfully I was not wrong and I did really enjoy them. They were not too hearty in taste and I used them as a quick snack with some applesauce and I used them as mini pizzas, adding some pizza sauce and toppings and throwing them in the oven. In both cases they tasted great.

I didn’t really know much about spelt but I did learn that it is high in protein, and as a vegetarian that is something that I always keep an eye out for. The Rudi’s Organic Bakery Organic Spelt English Muffins contain five whole grams of protein per muffin, which is one tenth of what you need every day. In addition each muffin also offers you one hundred and twenty calories with ten calories from fat as well as twenty five grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fiber, only one gram of sugars and two hundred and ten milligrams of sodium. Each english muffin even provides you with two percent of what you need a day of both niacin and riboflavin, four percent of what your need daily of thiamin and six percent of your daily need of iron. I thought the nutrition for these english muffins were great and wondered how the ingredients looked as well.

The ingredients of Rudi’s Organic Bakery Organic Spelt English Muffins are water, organic whole spelt flour, organic spelt flour, yeast, organic barley malt, organic oat flour, cultured spelt flour, sea salt, organic high oleic sunflower and/or safflower oil, vinegar, natural enzymes and ascorbic acid. It is a rather short list that is full of wonderful hearty ingredients, I was very much pleased. Although I am known to enjoy hearty foods even I have my limits but these english muffins were no near those limits and even my toddler son really enjoyed them. At the current price that I am finding them at there is no way we could afford to get these on a regular basis but if they are ever on a really good sale I will be very tempted to stock up on them.

I would happily recommend Rudi’s Organic Bakery Organic Spelt English Muffins to anyone. They tastes great and are just so healthy for you. I would have to point out their high protein content for anyone needing more protein in their diet but even if that wasn’t something that you were concerned about I would still suggest you to try these as they really turned out to be a very good product. They have certainly encouraged me also to look for more spelt organic foods as the tastes is so much milder than whole wheat and still very, very healthy for you to eat.
