WinCo Foods is a discount grocery chain with stores throughout Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, California and Utah. Shoppers who are fortunate enough to have a WinCo Foods in their area are more than happy to trade the frills & thrills that more upscale grocery stores offer for the rock bottom prices they can expect to find at WinCo Foods. While WinCo Foods may not be a fancy grocery store, you can still expect to find a deli counter, full bakery and even a Leonardi’s pizza in each store.
With the public embracing more natural and organic foods these days, WinCo is beginning to offer healthier options to those consumers who want them. New natural and organic products are added to their store at incredibly low prices. Here are some tips on what you can expect to find at WinCo Foods if you are looking to buy organic or natural.
Organic Fruits & Vegetables
I’ve been able to find some organic fruits & vegetables at WinCo Foods, although it does seem that the selection varies by the season and the store. In the past I’ve purchased delicious organic apples and crunchy organic carrots. I’ve also seen organic herbs for sale on occasion.
Organic Coffee
WinCo does offer a large selection of coffees and this includes organic as well. You can choose your organic coffee beans and grind them right in the store.
Organic Milk and Yogurt
I always purchase my organic milk at WinCo. At my store, I can usually find it for just a little over $3.00 for a half gallon. They have skim, 1%, 2% and whole. The only other natural dairy product I’ve seen at WinCo is Nancy’s yogurt which is made without any artificial ingredients.
Organic Frozen Meals
Winco Foods offers a few Amy’s Kitchen meals in their frozen section and they price them lower than any other grocery store in the area. I can usually find the Mexican Casserole, Santa Fe Casserole and Cheese Enchilada’s for an average price of $3.00. Vegetarian shoppers will also be pleased to find that WinCo Foods offers quite a selection of Morningstar Foods products like meatless sausage, bacon and chick’n.
Organic Soups
You’ll find a few different organic and natural soups for sale at WinCo Foods including Amy’s soups and Pacific Foods organic broths. These are all priced right around the $2.00 mark which makes them incredibly affordable.
Whole Wheat Bread
A year ago it was almost impossible to find a good loaf of whole wheat bread at WinCo and I regularly paid anywhere from $3.00 to $5.00 for bread at other grocery stores. But recently WinCo Foods has added an awesome selection of whole wheat breads. My favorite is Great Earth Baking breads which offers several different varieties. It is some of the best bread I’ve ever tasted and for $2.00 a loaf it can’t be beat. You’ll find other brands of good, healthy bread there as well at various prices.
Organic Pasta & Rice
I regularly buy Annie’s boxed macaroni & cheese at WinCo foods which makes a fast dinner in a pinch. But they also offer Lundberg Rice if you’re looking for a healthier alternative to just plain white rice.
While WinCo Foods keeps adding more and more natural and organic products all the time, this will hopefully give you an idea of what you can expect to find at your local WinCo Foods.
