Review: Mainstays Fabric Shower Liner

Last summer when we updated our bathroom, I changed my colors to sage green, which now is a very popular color. Our new shower curtain is a light sage gree, but I could not find a shower liner in the same shade, until recently that is.

On a trip to my local Walmart store, I was shopping for tablecloths, and ran across the Mainstays Fabric Shower Liner in the color “light willow”, which is almost an exact match for my sage green shower curtain.

I love the fact that the Mainstays Fabric Shower Liner is made of 100% polyester, so I can easily toss it into my washer and dryer on a monthly basis to keep it clean. No more dealing with those plastic shower liners, which only crack and get hard, and are not machine washable!

The Mainstays Fabric Shower Liner is made of a plain fabric, there are no patterns whatsoever, and it measures 70″ wide by 71″ in height. There are button holes along the top, so the curtain easily slides onto my shower rod rings – no metal gromets to rust up on this beautiful shower liner.

For a low value price of $11, Mainstays put a lot of thought into the design of their fabric shower liner, it even has magnets sewn into the hem to help keep the curtain in place inside the bathtub, and prevents water from splattering onto the bathroom floor.

You might think the Mainstays Fabric Shower Liner would be made of a thin material, considering the low price, that was what I feared at the time I purchased it, but when I got it home and hung it up, it was a nice thickness, and I could even use this as an exterior shower curtain if I so chose to, it looks that nice.

It washes up great, dries very quickly in my dryer (about 10 minutes and it’s dry), and comes out of my dryer without hardly any wrinkles on it! The directions sewn into the top say to wash it separately in cold water, do not use any bleach, and tumble dry on low. You can use a low iron on it if needed, but I don’t find any need to. I also throw it in with loads of other items, like towels, and it washes perfectly, so I don’t know why it says to wash separately, unless the colors might run (and that has not happened).

Mainstays Fabric Shower Liners come in a variety of popular colors, and are packaged in a clear plastic bag so you can see exactly what you are getting, and can match fabric swatches to it to be sure the color in the store is going to look good at home (sometimes the fluorescent lighting in stores changes the colors of fabrics!)

All in all, I think Mainstays has a winner with their Mainstays Fabric Shower Liner, and the only downfall is that it is made in China. I really do prefer items made in the United States, but this is the first time I have found exactly what I have been looking for, in the exact color I desired, so I am willing to make the sacrifice. I give this product two thumbs up.
