Product Review: Zicam Cold Remedy

Cold Remedy, Zicam

Well, it’s cold and flu season in my part of the country and I thought that I’d share a great new product with you. Zicam Cold Remedy hit the market recently and, in my opinion, is nothing short of amazing. Never have I had a cold remedy product that has worked so well in my time of discomfort.

First, let me give you a very brief medical history. I am very prone to getting the common cold as I work in a high school of close to 4000 students. I come in contact with many of these students throughout the day, so my chances of picking up some unwanted germs is quadrupled compared with the average person. And, when I get sick, it’s not just here today and gone in a couple days. I get those marathon colds that seem to last for ages! In addition, I get sinus infections relatively easily. I’m not sure if it’s just the way my body reacts, but I cannot stand it and will try/do just about anything to release the pressure in my head.

I kept seeing commercials on the television for the new product called Zicam that was supposed to fight your cold and help you to get over it faster. As a matter of fact, they claimed to shorten a cold’s duration by 3 times! I decided to give it a shot since nothing else ever worked. I was a little surprised to see that the small bottle of Zicam cost over $10. But, I was desperate as usual and ended up just buying it anyway. I’m glad I did!

Zicam started working immediately when taken. My nose began to clear up and the pressure in my head didn’t seem to be so bad anymore. I kept taking Zicam as directed and my cold never got any worse! In fact, I was pretty much cured by day 3 of taking it! Zicam not only kept it from getting worse, it definitely shortened the length of time considerably. I was amazed!

Zicam comes in a few different forms. The one I used was the squirt bottle that you put in your nose and “inject” the liquid. I know, it sound gross but it works! Other ways to take it are in tablet form and a swab that you can also use in your nose. I haven’t tried the others, but the nasal gel has really had great results when I’ve taken it. Zicam recommends administering their medication at the first sign of a cold. So, if you start to feel fatigued or nauseated, get yourself some Zicam and take it immediately.

The directions say to take it every 4 hours, and to continue use until 48 hours after the symptoms subside. I was surprised how much liquid was in the little bottle that you get, but it really lasts for a while. I probably took it for a good 2 weeks total before I needed a new bottle. Yes, it’s a bit expensive when compared to other remedies, but you get what you pay for in my opinion! So next time you feel like you’re in for a cold, take Zicam. It works!
