Product Review: Edy’s Dibs Ice Cream Bites

Dreyers, edy's, Strawberry Ice Cream

What the heck is a Dib?
If you have never heard of this wonderful substance you really must give them a try. Edy’s Dibs Ice Cream Bites are a half inch cube of ice cream covered in a hard chocolaty shell. There are a variety of flavors available. Most of the flavor differences occur within the ice cream such as strawberry ice cream, mint ice cream, and peanut butter – my personal favorite cause it has a little peanut butter nugget in the middle. Two of the flavors have vanilla ice cream with either Nestle Crunch or Nestle drumstick pieces mixed in the coating.

Mmmmm Dibs my favorite
The main reason I like Dibs so much is of course the taste. But to add to that glory, Edy’s Dibs are a bite size snack I can pop in my mouth while I’m on the move with little ones to chase after. Just pop the top and grab 1-2 little pieces and I’m off again (ok so sometimes this happens several times in an evening). It’s great for a quick pick me up.

Treat Yourself with 1 or 2
While pregnant with my second little guy, Dibs were a perfect little treat. I wanted to somewhat watch what I ate as I had gestational diabetes with my first. Then after delivery I seemed to have major cravings for ice cream, but I also wanted to loose that baby weight. At first look at the nutritional contents of Dibs you might think there is too much sugar and calories to be ok. I believe the package says 30g of carbohydrates per serving. The thing to keep in mind though is the serving size, which is 16 pieces. I never ate that many in a day let alone a sitting. So I didn’t feel quite so guilty about snacking on a couple of Dibs, or letting my 2 year old have a couple of pieces either.

We try to keep two packages in the freezer – one for me (peanut butter) and one for my husband (Nestle Crunch). We’ve recently figured out the nanny likes Dibs as well since our package kept disappearing faster than we were eating it. One package of 60 pieces is $3-$4 and generally lasts us 2-3 weeks. With great ice cream taste, wrapped up in a bite size snack, Edy’s Dibs are tops on my list.
