Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration: Review

Snowman, Tacky

If you happened to of read my review on the Candy Cane Lighted Stakes you would already know that this year we sort of entered ourselves into a silent Christmas light competition with the guy across the street.

He does not know we are in competition, but I’m sure he will catch on soon, and I am sure we will know he has caught on as soon as we catch him adding more lights.

Anyways, while out seeking even more lights for our house we stopped at Walmart because we knew we could get a slew of outdoor light decorations for cheaper than any other place would offer.

When my mom first added the Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration, I was appalled. I thought this yard decoration would look tacky, ugly, and cheap.

The snowman was on display in the store, and I hated it. The snowman stood in at 14.25 inches high, and for me it was a tacky ugly midget lawn decoration. The snowman is constructed out of cheap wire that holds him together. Hanging from the wires are holographic discs. When the wind blows the disc will give off some sort of rainbow effect (at least that was how I was imagining it before we even got it home).

In the store it appeared that there were too many of these silvery holographic discs, which made the lights seem dim. I hated it. The snowman’s hands that were made to look like twigs were too large, it looked tacky and stupid.

At home we set the stupid thing up, and a few of the sparkly discs fell off of the stupid snowman. It was easy getting them back on, but I could tell when we put the Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration away after the holiday a lot of them were going to fall off and get lost. (Or blow away).

The Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration came with stakes to hold the ugly tacky lawn ornament in place.

Once my mom plugged it in though, the ugly tacky snowman came to life in full color. I hated admitting it, but this snowman was quite beautiful. The Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration looks horrendous during the day, but at night, the holographic discs sparkled like no other decoration we had on the lawn.

It was unique, unexpected, and…yeah… it was a neat addition, I must say.

Quality:

Although the Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration made for an awesome night display, that still did not justify the fact that the decoration was thrown together poorly. The next morning we awoke to a bunch of the holographic disc on the lawn. Some of them were broken, and others must of just taken off with the wind.

The Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration came with some replacement discs, but not enough to endure the entire season. Especially seeing how we lost 2 and one was broken in just one night. At that rate our snowman would be naked by the time Christmas popped up.

Pricing and Availability:

We picked this one up at our local Walmart. I’m positive though that my mom spent a few dollars more than what Walmart has the snowman for sale on the site. Weird…but that’s Walmart for you.

The Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration is going for $39.88 at the website.

Overall:

The Pre-Lit Snowman Decoration is a really beautiful decoration, but for the price they are asking, it is constructed way too poorly for me to want to recommend it to anyone.
