I was on a trip not long ago to the store to buy more cleanser for my face I decided to try a cheaper brand of face cleanser and compare it to my usual brand which is Noxzema.
Equate Cleansing Cream
This face cleanser comes in a blue 16 ounce plastic jar with a twist off cap that is similar to Noxzema but the jar of cleanser that Noxzema is in has a much deeper and darker blue color.
The texture of the Equate brand is not as smooth as Noxzema. When you scoop some of the cleanser out of the jar you can see and feel tiny clumps of the cleanser and whenever water hits the cleanser it just disintegrates. There is not much of the cleanser left to wash your face off with. When you twist off the cap you can notice a slight medicinal aroma to it but it is not as welcoming as Noxzema is.
Looking at the cleanser inside the jar reminds me of whipped cream that is beginning to go bad. When you rub some of the product between your fingers there is a grainy look to it and the product does not blend in well or smooth. The medicine scent is very watered down and there is only a slight aroma of menthol and eucalyptus. I have applied this to a sunburn before and there is not that chilling sensation you get from Noxzema after it is applied.
Noxzema Cream Cleanser
This cleanser comes packaged in the familiar looking dark blue plastic jar with the twist off cap. The letters are also in deep blue writing and the words are sitting in a splash of water. As soon as you twist the cap off you can immediately notice the aroma of eucalyptus and cooling menthol.
The cleanser itself is light and fluffy and reminds me of puffy white clouds of whipped cream. This cleanser holds up quite well even when water hits it. It applies very smoothly onto the face and does not have a grainy look to it. There are also no tiny clumps of the cleanser noticed either when you scoop some out and blend it in with your fingers. The medicine scent is quite invigorating and gives you a sense of deep down cleaning. Another scent I can notice in this cleanser reminds me of baby powder.
Noxzema skin cleanser leaves your skin feeling fresh and deeply cleansed and toned. You get all of that with just one cleanser. Call me crazy but I really love the way Noxzema smells. It smells clean and looks just like real whipped cream. The light and airy texture of this product blends in softly and smoothly onto your face. Not only is this a great cleanser for your face but this product can be sued for sunburned skin too. It gives your sunburned skin a tingly feeling along with a cooling down sensation and starts to turn the heat down from the sunburn as soon as it touches your skin.
My final thoughts on these two products are that I will stick with my Noxzema because my skin on my face feels much more cleansed and refreshed than the Equate brand. I paid $2.97 for the Equate at Wal-Mart and $3.97 for Noxzema at Wal-Mart. I will pay the $1.00 more and know that I am getting my moneys worth by using Noxzema.
