Movie Theaters in New York City

Battery Park, Madame Tussauds

There are many movie theater s in the New York City Area, but I have picked out 5 based on location and or other interesting places to visit that are nearby.

AMC Empire 25 located at 234 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 888-262-4386. AMC Empire is located in the heart of Times Square. The theater is wheelchair accessible and listening devices for the hearing impaired are available. The IMAX experience is also at this theater.

There is an Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Dave & Buster’s which is a great place to eat, drink and play a few games while waiting for the next movie showings. There are other interesting things to do while waiting like visiting the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. At the Wax Museum you can see life-size statues of President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Marilyn Monroe, Samuel L. Jackson, Angelina Jolie and many more famous people. Another interesting place to visit that is near the AMC Empire Theater is Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Yes it the same one that is on television.

The AMC Empire 25 Theater has discount shows before noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday tickets are only $6.00, they are regularly $12.50 for adults and Matinee, Seniors 60 and over pay $9.00 and Children ages 2 -12 pay $9.00 with additional fee of $5.00 per person for the IMAX experience.

There are two of my favorite restaurants near Regal E-Walk 13, Chevys Fresh Mex and Dallas BBQ. They both remind me of my hometown Houston, TX. There are more restaurants across 42nd Street like Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Dave & Buster’s which is a great place to eat, drink and play a few games.

There are some great places to eat and some interesting places near the AMC Magic Johnson Theater. The all around favorite McDonald’s is just a block or so away at 354 West 125th Street. If you are looking for a more dinner type atmosphere then the Revival which is a restaurant that serves American Cuisine is about 2 blocks away at 2367 8th Ave and for a more relax diner type eating try M&G; Diner at 383 West 125th but you can always eat the concession stand in the theater.

There are other interesting places to visit either before the movies starts are after like the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center located at One Liberty Plaza, the Museum of American Finance located at 48 Wall Street and the Sports Museum of America at 26 Broadway. There are too many great places to eat in the area but my favorite is the Unity Restaurant which is next to the theater.
