Jessica Biel’s Personal Workout for Toning Your Whole Body

Many of us spend good amounts of our time trying to find the perfect workout in order to tone our bodies. We seem to never be happy and are always looking for more in our eternal quest.

We look at celebrities and icons, thinking that if they look so great, then we can too. Right?

Right!

Jessica Biel, whose claim to fame was Mary Camden in the 7th Heaven television series, is known for her perfectly toned body. Recently, her personal trainer, Jason Walsh, revealed how exactly Jessica remains in such great shape so that we too can have some insight into the stars’ workouts.

The Workout

As a warm-up, Jessica does a stretch – the walking lunge. With your feet together, lunge with your right leg. Bring your left foot alongside your right. Then, lunge with your left leg. Do about 8-10 lunges per leg.

Walsh claims that cardio is the key point in Jessica’s workout. First, they complete a half-mile jog, then run 200-meter, 150-meter, and 100-meter sprints on a track.

Next, Jessica does hanging leg raises which, as Walsh says, flatten the stomach. Hang from a high bar or rings so that your feet don’t touch the ground, pull your knees slightly above the waist. Do this fifteen times in three sets.

Plyometrics, as Walsh says, “hurt.” But they are important to building a toned body. To do these, jump from the bottom step of a flight of 20 or more stairs up to the third step. Do this until you reach the top, skipping one stair each jump.

For weight training, Jessica uses lighter weights but does more reps. Walsh keeps her moving so that this becomes a cardio workout as well.

To tone the waist, Jessica does what’s called the Russian Twist. To do this, sit down on the floor and lean back slightly. Holding a 5-lb. medicine ball, twist from side to side. Do this fifteen times again in three sets.

Finally, Jessica works her shoulders and biceps. To follow Jessica, stand with your knees slightly bent, holding one 10-lb. weight in each hand. Curl them up to your chest. Rotate your hands with your palms facing outward and press the weights overhead together. Do three sets of 10-12 reps.

Although that is Jessica Biel’s complete and accurate workout, the star also varies from time to time, using other methods of exercise to keep her covetable body in shape.

Jessica’s been seen out walking her dogs, but not leisurely – usually, she’s dressed in workout clothes and accompanied by a bottle of water. On average, a 130-lb. woman walking her dog at about 2.5mph (which is an average walking speed) will burn about 183 calories an hour. So if you’d rather skip Jessica’s intense workout, follow her lead by walking your dogs (or someone else’s!) diligently and you’ll begin to notice a difference.

It may be difficult to buckle down and stick to a workout, but if you truly want to tone your body like Jessica Biel, take note of her workout – which actually does seem to work – and you’ll be on your way to getting into great shape.
