Ideas for Hosting a Girl’s Night Out or In

Girl's Night Out

Why is it that we women always get hung up on what we’re going to do when it is our turn to host a girl’s night out or in? It was never difficult for us when we were teenagers, but for some reason once we are adults the ideas seem to go out the window. So, here are some ideas for the next time it is your turn to host a girl’s night out or in.

1. Go bowling. Bowling is great because you don’t have to particularly good at it to participate, and let’s face it everyone does a gutter ball eventually, so you won’t be alone there. Also, it’s a great physical activity. While you’re probably not going to get your heart rate up very high, at least you’re not sitting down all the time either. This is also a great opportunity to visit with your girlfriends, tell jokes, and just have a fantastic time in general. It’s a great way to bond with your friends!

2. Have a slumber party. This might be hard if you are married and or have kids, but if there is someone in your group of girlfriends that is single and doesn’t mind lending their space as long as you provide the munchies and so on, then it could work. Also, it might be possible for your spouse and or children to spend the night somewhere else.

Do all the fun things you used to do when you were a teenager and having a slumber party. Play truth or dare, or board games while you munch on snacks and visit. This is a fantastic way to bond with your girlfriends and just get away from it all.

3. Have a movie night. Here’s the perfect opportunity to break out those favorite chick flicks, you know the ones your husband, or boyfriend doesn’t want to watch with you. Or maybe pick a theme such as science fiction, or fantasy and then just watch those types of movies. Also, movies are inexpensive to rent and you can even get three or four so that there is a selection to choose from without breaking the bank. Pop some popcorn, set out some snacks and maybe even some wine, sit back, relax and then have a chat period after the movie is over.

You can also choose to actually go to the movie theatre together to see a movie you all want to see! Then afterwards go out and have drinks or a snack to discuss the movie before going home.

4. Have a pampering night. This can be really fun and relaxing. You can purchase a few different colored nail polishes, and some mint foot lotion, and simple face masks, make sure you pick ones which are good for any skin type. Then you can give each other facials and pedicures. You can even hire a massage therapist to come in and give mini-massages. Have some healthy snacks, light some candles and savor being together.

5. Start a book club and use it as an excuse to get together once a month and talk about the books you are reading. Have a potluck and have each girl bring something and then you can all sit around, munch and discuss your latest read. It’s a wonderful way to have a girl’s night in without spending a lot of money. Plus if you like to read this a good opportunity to share your love of reading. You don’t just have to talk about the book you have all read, you can also discuss books that are separate from your club reading.

6. Go shopping. Even if you don’t have any money to buy anything, going to mall with your girlfriends can be quite a fun experience. You can still try clothes on, and watch your girlfriends try clothes on. And here’s your opportunity to stop at the food court have a snack and do some more bonding. With all the different types of shops in malls these days, window shopping takes on a whole new meaning, and is really fun!

Having a girls night whether it is out or in can be one of the best things about being a woman. I hope you find these ideas as fun as I have!
