3 Great New York City Martini Bars

Girl's Night Out, Martini Bar

Ever find yourself stuck in a rut, always going to the same place for the same drink? Why not try a new unique place to enjoy a martini? Take a tour of the city with these three bars in New York City and you won’t be disappointed.

Beauty Bar

The first stop on our tour of New York City martini bars is Beauty Bar. The Beauty Bar of New York first opened its doors in 1995 after converting the then Thomas Beauty Salon into a chic bar. Beauty Bar now has 10 locations including one in Brooklyn and Los Angeles. The best deal, by far, is their $10 Martini’s and Manicures Happy Hour. From Monday to Friday 6p-11p and Saturday to Sunday 7p-11p you can purchase a Martini & Manicure package and enjoy a delicious martini while getting your nails done! Beauty Bar usually has at least 2-3 manicurists on staff with a plethora of colors available. Manicures aren’t just for women either, plenty of men join in on the fun too. Although there was a light smell of acetone, it was not overwhelming, so don’t worry. Beauty Bar is more than a great local martini bar, its a great place to have a girl’s night out or even a bachelorette party. Beauty Bar also offers DJ and live band performances, so make sure to check out their calendar for the schedule. I enjoyed the music, the fantastic Martini’s and the 50’s inspired décor. You must visit Beauty Bar the next time you are in the East Village.

Thompson Hotel’s Shang Bar

The next stop on our tour of New York City martini bars is the Shang Bar. The Thompson Hotel’s Shang Bar and Terrace on the Lower East Side is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the view while sipping an expertly made, top shelf martini. The Thompson Hotel has five locations in New York City alone and others in Los Angeles, DC, Chicago and Toronto. Known for its expressive artistic style, the Thompson Hotel is where some of the most chic of visitors stay. On the second floor of the Lower East Side Thompson Hotel is the Shang Bar and lounge. The long leather-topped bar and wide open lounge area, decorated with artwork by Peter Halley, offers an extensive wine and cocktail selection. One of the best pomegranate martini’s I ever had was at Shang Bar. It was clean, refreshing and strong. After ordering your martini, head over to the terrace where you can lounge on a comfortable sofa and overlook bustling New York City. Even if you can’t afford to stay a night in the Thompson Hotel, you can still enjoy the high life with a martini from this great local martini bar: Thompson Hotel’s Shang Bar.

Cibar Lounge

Take a trip to the Gramercy Park area of New York City for the last stop on our tour of New York City martini bars at Cibar Lounge. Outfitted with fireplaces and a bamboo garden, Cibar Lounge is a fantastic place to end your tour of New York City martini bars with a martini and a light appetizer. A nightly DJ will tickle your ears while Chet’s perfect pomegranate will tickle your tongue. Cibar Lounge offers over 20 different martini’s to choose from, as well as various appetizers to chase away the munchies. Cibar Lounge is also available for rent for up to 175 people.
