Greenies are almost like a textured dog bone that is used for the purpose to help dogs’ clean their teeth while chewing on them. Greenies I found really do work well on cleaning your dog’s teeth right down to the gum. My dog personally loved these and thought that they were more like a dog treat for him to chew on all day which was a plus because he is a very picky dog when it comes to things that he likes. You can get greenies based on the size of your dog like some other dog treats provide, which is a plus because you do not want a toy size dog trying to eat a bone that is made for a larger breed of dog. Greenies are also great for any dog that has a hard time eating the harder type treats like milk bones. I found these treats were a lot easier for my dog that has even the hardest time breaking off little pieces of a milk bone that was for his specific size. These are something to consider for any dog with sensitive teeth, plus with these dog treats have more protein in them you do not risk you dog getting constipated from eating them. If you are someone that has a hard time trying to get a toothbrush in your dogs mouth, these are a heath alternative and your dog can do all the work themselves just by chewing on these toothbrush shaped bones all day.
The Negatives To Greenies Dog Treats
Even though these dog treats do have some great benefits there are a few drawbacks to this product. Greenies are using as a tooth for good oral hygiene for a dog and because of that the prices on this product or a little on the high side. To get a bag of greenies for your dog it could cost you about $17.00 a small bag and for the larger boxes it could be around $50.00 a box. There is the option to just get a single greenie, but that can be costly as well at $6.00 a bone. In some cases this might be terrible bad, but if you are someone that is on a budget this could take a good sized chunk out of your pocket. Then there is the smell of the greenies, they say that greenies dog treat help to freshen the dogs’ breath, but it is hard to picture this when first smell greenies for your self. I found that greenies smell more like an old used dirty sock and so because of this bad odor I had my dog eat it outside because it was a strong odor. This odor might be a negative to human, but to a dog it seems to lure them into wanting to eat them, so it is kind of a win lose on this product. I would suggest that if you do get your dog or dogs’ greenies that you have them eat them in a place that has air circulation so that you do not smell dirty socks all day. I also cannot say that my dogs’ breath smelt any fresher after he had eaten the dog treat, but the plus was his mouth did not smell like a dirty sock either.
If you are looking for Greenies Dog Treats they can be found at one of your local pet stores like Petco, Petsmart, or Petland. The price and smell can turn you off to these treats, but they are well worth it if you can afford them. It saves you the time of having to get your dog to open up wide while you try and get a toothbrush in their mouth, they can just take care of their teeth on their own.
