Good & Fruity Candy

While I was shopping at a Walgreens Pharmacy yesterday, I happened to notice a display of Good & Fruity soft & chewy fruity candy. When I was younger, I used to eat these candies regularly, but as I got older, I stopped eating many types of candy. It had been several years since I last saw Good & Fruity candy in a retail store and I was glad to see them in – stock at that pharmacy. So glad, in fact, that I purchased a five ounce Theater – size box of the candy.

Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Good & Fruity soft & chewy fruity candy.

Size
The net weight of the Theater – size box of Good & Fruity candy is five ounces. According to the package label, the box holds 3.5 servings of 43 candies each. I think that this serving size is over – estimated. So far, I have eaten some of the candies in this box twice and roughly half of the contents of the box remain. Each of the two times that I recently ate these candies, approximately 10 of them were enough to satisfy my appetite and sweet cravings.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one five ounce box of Good & Fruity soft & chewy fruity candy at Hartford, Connecticut area pharmacies, supermarkets and convenience stores ranges between $1 and $1.50. Because this is a Theater – size box, which holds more candy than regular – sized boxes, I definitely think that this price is reasonable.

Texture
The texture of Good & Fruity soft & chewy fruity candy is pleasant and appealing. These fruity candies feature a soft interior that is similar to the inside of a jelly bean, plus harder candy shells that are fruity in flavor. The contrast between the soft interior and slightly crunchy outer shell of these candies is very nice. I did notice however, that parts of these candies do stick to the teeth, so if you eat them, try to brush your teeth shortly afterward.

Taste / Flavor
It had been years since I last tasted Good & Fruity soft & chewy fruity candy, but I’m glad that I’ve had the opportunity to eat these candies again. They taste much the way they did years ago, which is a good thing, but I think that some of the flavors may have changed. As far as I can tell, the flavors that are now offered are cherry, lemon, orange, lime and what appears to be a variation of raspberry.

These candies really do taste fruity to me and their flavor is fairly long – lasting. I also think that the various flavors offered with these candies are slightly tangy, which makes them a little more interesting.

Overall Rating
Good & Fruity soft & chewy fruity candy is a fun – to – eat product. This fruity counterpart of Good & Plenty candy features small, oblong pieces of chewy candy that are covered with harder, fruit – flavored shells. While they are not stocked and sold at every food retailer, these fruity candies can be found at many pharmacies, supermarkets, convenience stores and candy shops. These nostalgic candies are highly recommended by this food writer.
