When my wife first saw these girls on television, she knew they’d be a hit. Not necessarily because their workouts are any different from anyone else’s but because they are using sex to sell workout videos. No, there isn’t any sex on the “Flirty, Fit & Fabulous” DVD but having a dancing pole as your centerpiece certainly raises eyebrows. Do these workouts really work and get you in shape? Let’s see what happens in this quick and easy guide to the Flirty Girl workout routine.

The Flirty Girls are Canadian sisters Kerry and Krista Knee after Kerry basically invented a pole dancing workout after she couldn’t find any pole dancing classes available. Flirty Girl Fitness was born between one sister’s physical fitness expertise and the other’s business sense. The sisters have a studio in Toronto and one in Chicago with plans for more.

There are seven DVDs in all, three devoted just to pole dancing. Two use chairs as props and two more have moves that are akin to dance moves turned into workouts. Suffice it to say there is a lot of booty shaking in all of these videos.

Does The Workout Work?

If you just want something that will get you up and around to burn some calories, these workouts are great. Plus you may have the added bonus of pleasing your mate in the process of the workout if you have an audience. The sisters combine all kinds of workout moves from the Kama Sutra and yoga in the beginning video Booty Beat. This is the simplest video that doesn’t involve any props.

When you add chairs and hand weights in the chair video, the moves get more complicated but the resistance is still there so you can tone some muscles in the arms and burn some more calories. The chair workouts and pole workouts should be great for using your own body as a resistance weight to get a workout.

These workout videos are probably not what you want for any aerobic program or for some serious exercising. The Pole Fit video is the only one that speaks to being a high energy cardio workout, so they videos do gradually get you into a full workout.

Another drawback is the pole itself. If you want to do those workouts, the website says that the pole is limited to about 180 pounds of weight otherwise it could collapse, hurting both you and your home. This may be the only workout that not only has a maximum weight limit but also a home improvement idea.

The Flirty Girl workout is fine if you want to lose a few pounds or just stay in shape but it probably isn’t the best for people serious about toning specific parts of their bodies.
