Coventry, Homemade Soups, Meat Pies, Middle Eastern Cuisine

Cleveland has tons of options for healthy, delicious food on both the East and West side if only you know where to look. Check these restaurants out!

Aladdin’s serves up delicious Middle-Eastern cuisine, and it’s a steal. The menu features a large selection of traditional Middle-Eastern appetizers, as well as yummy homemade soups, inventive salads, rolled pitas, and pita “pitzas. They also have a kid’s menu. Aladdin’s is perfect for a romantic evening out; as it’s warm, intimate, inexpensive, and overall has a very nice atmosphere. With locations all over Northeast Ohio, you can definitely find one near you.

Liquid Planet is the perfect place to grab lunch during a break, or after a day of shopping. They are known for their colorful array of all-natural smoothies, but they also have delicious rice bowls, toasted pitas, and salads! Smoothies are a bit pricey at $3.95 for a small, but you won’t pay more than $8.00 for any entree on the menu, which isn’t bad!

Treehugger’s Cafe
1330 Bagley Rd. Unit 1
Berea, OH‎ – (440) 342-4901‎

Treehugger’s is one of my favorite restaurants. It’s very cozy and bright inside, and the staff is friendly and eager to help. They use locally-grown produce whenever they can, and almost everything on the menu is organic. A great selection of homemade soups, salads, burgers, and paninis adorns the menu, and breakfast is served all day. Make sure to try the sweet potato fries. There’s also live music on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and an open mic night on Wednesdays!

Szechwan Garden
13800 Detroit Ave
Lakewood, OH
216-226-1987
http://www.szechwan-garden.com/

Szechwan Garden is one of the few Chinese restaurants that offers an amazing selection for vegetarians and vegans. They have a complete “zen” menu that consists of an array vegetarian “meat”, as well as the typical vegetable, seafood, chicken, beef and pork entrees. All dishes are masterfully prepared (this is nothing like your ordinary takeout), with varying levels of spiciness. While they do prepare takeout, you might prefer to dine in — the dining room is cozy and the staff is wonderful and accommodating.

Tommy’s on Coventry
1824 Coventry Rd.
Cleveland Hts., OH
216-321-7757

Home

Tommy’s is a Coventry staple, and it’s the perfect casual restaurant. Tommy’s offers a variety of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and macrobiotic treats, but there’s plenty of meat on the menu, too. Think typical diner fare, but healthy and with a twist. Toasted cheese sandwiches are served on a pita, and they’re delicious – try the Zippy, with sesame sauce, veggies and sunflower seeds! Tommy’s has a huge selection of sandwiches, as well as salads, meat pies, and even hamburgers and hotdogs!
