Columbus, Ohio New Year’s Eve Parties

New Year’s Eve is a time for festivities, and Columbus, Ohio can hold its own with New Year’s Eve bashes long-lasting and new.

New Year’s at the Hyatt – The 2008 theme for this long-standing annual bash co-sponsored by WLVQ-FM96 is “Party Around the World”. The Hyatt, located at 350 North High Street, is the genial host for this 21-and over party that takes over the entire property.

A wide variety of music can be found throughout the Hyatt, including local favorites such as Chris Logsdon and Shuckin’ Bubba Deluxe, DJs playing top-40 and club music and smooth jazz.

There are several packages to choose from. The party only option, including an assortment of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, open standard bar and all entertainment areas for $119 per adult. For those who wish to stay at the Hyatt and only stumble to their rooms after the ball drops, standard room packages are $379 for double-occupancy and also include breakfast for two when booked by December 20, 2008. VIP room packages include access to the VIP lounge and an open top-shelf bar and cost $489 for double occupancy when booked by December 20.

First Night ColumbusCelebrating its 14th year, First Night Columbus is an alcohol-free event throughout downtown Columbus.

Admission buttons are only $10 and will give access to over 150 entertainers at over 15 sites as well as hands-on activities. Some of the First Night Columbus locations include Veteran’s Memorial, the LeVeque Tower lobby, the Huntington lobby and City Hall Plaza.

First Night Columbus also includes “Teen Idol” contest open to any Ohio high school student grades 9-12.

Sugar Bar and Park Street Patio New Year’s Eve 2009 – Featuring local band gone national Saving Jane, this event’s $10 ticket also includes a small plate buffet and midnight champagne toast.

DJ Drew Hanson and DJ Samarai will also spin tunes throughout the evening.

New Year’s Eve Gala – The Renaissance Hotel hosts one of the hottest club parties in Central Ohio. Live bands and DJs will entertain party-goers with Top 40, trance and jazz music.

Tickets are $99 before December 12, when the price raises to $119, and includes entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. A VIP upgrade is available for an additional $49 that includes a top shelf open bar.
