Berries

Fiber, fiber, fiber! How many times have we heard this preached to us in diet plans? Fiber is one of those magical ingredients that keeps our stomachs satisfied throughout the day and curbs hunger for much longer. Berries are just one of the many foods that are bursting with plenty of fiber and they taste great too! Raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries have an excellent source of fiber. Turkey

If you’re worried about calories, but don’t want to give up the meats you love, turkey is a great start. It has fewer calories than any other animal protein and contains the amino acid Leucine, which has been tested to preserve muscle mass during weight loss. It is also a great metabolism booster, which also helps burn up those calories! Turkey has a lot of protein in it, so you are less likely to over eat. This bird isn’t just for Thanksgiving either! You can also find turkey alternatives in your burger and bacon section of the grocery store.

Vegetables

Filled with vitamins, minerals, and protein, vegetables are always on the list for good things for you to eat to keep your weight loss going strong. Not only are (most of them) low in calories, but they are a great snack in between meals to keep you from running to the vending machine to grab a bag of chips. Spinach for example lowers cholesterol, boosts your metabolism, and has most of the nutrients you need to keep healthy.

Vegetables are best eaten raw, whenever possible! Cooked vegetables lose the nutrients they store when they’re cooked. So, try a healthy salad or just a serving of them. Stay away from white dressings, though! Either go for the zero-fat alternative or try french dressing. Some great vegetables to go for are: broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, leeks, peas, root vegetables, capsicum or peppers, and sweet corn

Breakfast Cereal

Once again here comes the fiber! With fewer calories and more fiber, cereal fills you up just as much as other breakfast foods but helps you slim down in the process. Now, don’t go out and eat your favorite children’s cereal with all of those marshmallows and fruity balls in them! Choose fiber-rich cereals, at least 5 grams per serving, with low fat. Remember, breakfast is an important meal of the day, not just to keep your brain functioning, but it will also keep your metabolism up and curb your hunger until lunch time which keeps away unwanted snacking!

Soup

Soups are a great and tasty way to fill your stomach up. Stay away from the good old ‘Creme of’ soups or very meaty soups. Try vegetarian alternatives and even add tofu to give you another boost of protein and make the soup more satisfying. Eating a cup or bowl of soup before dinner and lunch will also help you eat less!
