Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Parmesan, Parmesan, Stuffed Chicken

Not too long ago, I had the opportunity to eat Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan for the first time. Previously, I had eaten two other varieties of Barber Foods stuffed chicken breasts and I was quite pleased with each variety. This chicken parmesan features an unusual appearance, but it also offers lots of flavor.

Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan is made with boneless chicken breasts and to me, they resemble croquettes. Instead of being flat, this version features a breaded chicken breast wrapped around a filling of marinara sauce and cheese. The breasts are not pre cooked. They are raw and uncooked and must be cooked in a conventional oven. When these chicken breasts are cooking in the oven, a wondrous aroma fills the area, which is stimulating to the appetite.

Presented here, is one food writer’s product review of Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan.

Size
The net weight of the standard sized box of Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan is 10 ounces. The container holds two 1 piece servings, each of which is fairly substantial in size.

One piece of chicken is considered one serving and I think that the serving size is realistic. When served with some pasta, rice or potatoes and vegetables, one of these stuffed chicken breasts is just the right size to satisfy most people’s appetites.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 10 ounce container of Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $4.99. With two servings contained in the box, that’s $2.50 per serving.

I tend to view Barber Foods stuffed chicken breasts as special occasion food because of their overall high quality. In my humble opinion, $2.50 per serving is a very fair price.

Texture
This delightful frozen chicken product features several different textures, which meld together quite satisfactorily. When fully cooked, the chicken breast is fairly moist and real, not some type of by product. The breading adds a nice touch to the affair and the marinara sauce is nicely thick, with small pieces of cheese swimming throughout.

I must admit, when I first saw Barber Foods stuffed chicken breasts, their appearance sort of freaked me out. Almost rectangular in shape, the Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan resembles a little, breaded loaf. When I cut into it and ate the breast alongside some pasta, the different textures worked together well.

Nutritional Facts
Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan contains 250 calories, with 110 calories from fat, per one piece serving. This delicious dinner also contains 3 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 12 grams total fat, 45 mg of cholesterol, 440 mg of sodium, 17 grams total carbohydrates, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 2 grams of sugars and 19 grams of protein, per one piece serving.

Taste / Flavor
This is the third type of Barber Foods stuffed chicken breast that I have eaten. I must admit, their unusual appearance really made me wonder how they would taste. With all three varieties however, my curiosity was replaced with flavor satisfaction.

Like most consumers, I am used to chicken parmigiana / parmesan being made with flattened chicken cutlets, which are topped with marinara sauce and cheese. Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan features all of the same ingredients, it’s just that the shape of the finished product looks different.

The chicken breast in this product is real and fresh and the breading that coats it is nicely seasoned. The tomato sauce and cheese that fill the breast are tasty enough and they complement the chicken breast well. When eaten with pasta and vegetables, with garlic bread on the side, this item is quite delicious.

On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan a rating of nine.

Packaging
Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan is packaged in a cardboard box, with a white and yellow front label that features an illustration of the cooked, enclosed item. The box also lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information, as well as cooking directions.

Inside the box, each of the two stuffed chicken breasts is individually wrapped in a plastic pouch. For those of us who live alone, that is a good thing. If you want to cook and eat just one stuffed chicken breast, with no muss and no fuss, you can.

Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan should be cooked in a conventional oven. It is not designed to be cooked in a microwave oven.

Overall Rating
If you’re a fan of chicken parmesan and you’ve never eaten Barber Foods Chicken Parmesan, try it. There’s a good chance you’ll like it. If you’re familiar with Barber Foods’ various stuffed chicken breast products, then you can expect their Chicken Parmesan to be just as delicious and high quality as their other varieties.

The fact that this chicken parmesan product features raw, uncooked chicken, makes cooking it very similar to cooking it from scratch. This reasonably priced product is stocked and sold at supermarkets across America and is recommended by this food writer.
