Pasta is one of my favorite food items and I try to eat it as much as possible. I particularly enjoy eating pasta with either marinara sauce or meat sauce and try to regularly sample new varieties of jarred sauces. Very recently, I had the opportunity to try Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce for the first time and I’m very glad that I tried it. This spicy, but not – too – spicy sauce excited my tastebuds and I thoroughly enjoyed eating it atop some cooked penne rigate pasta.
I am so impressed with the flavor, texture and overall quality of this item, that I have decided to write a product review of it. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer’s product review of Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce.

In physical size, the jar of Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce is roughly the same size as most other jars of prepared pasta sauce.
Price The regular retail price charged for one 24 ounce jar of Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $2.59. This price is roughly the average price for most brands of jarred pasta sauces at these stores, or perhaps just slightly higher. Personally, I think that this price is reasonable, especially when the great flavor, texture and overall high quality of the prouct are taken into consideration.

Taste / Flavor Through the years, I have eaten many different brands and varieties of jarred pasta sauces. While some are definitely better than others, most of them maintain similar ingredients and qualities. As soon as I tasted the Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce, I knew that this variety of marinara sauce was very different from most other jarred pasta sauces. I like foods that are mildly – spicy, but not incindeary and Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce nicely fits that bill.
The sauce offers a well – balanced flavor that speaks of fresh tomatoes, with a added touch of garlic and herbs. What really sets this pasta sauce apart from most other marinara sauces is the addition of crushed red pepper and green chili peppers. To me, the amount of heat, or spiciness in this sauce is just right. It is spicy enough to be different, interesting and exciting, yet not so hot that it burns one’s mouth. If you like food with a “kick”, then chances are, you’ll enjoy eating Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce.
Packaging Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce is packaged in a sturdy glass jar. The jar is easy to open and re – close and the sauce pours out nicely. The front label of the jar features a nice illustration of vegetables in a field and the rear label lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information. The jar stores easily and does not take up excessive storage space.
Overall Rating All things considered, Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce is an exciting – tasting variety of pasta sauce that is spicy, yet not overly – hot. I thoroughly enjoyed eating this sauce and want to eat it again, soon. If you are looking to jazz – up your regular pasta dinners and want to try something different, Barilla Spicy Marinara Sauce is an interesting and satisfying choice.. Available at major supermarkets across America, this spicy pasta sauce is highly recommended by this food writer.
