How to Find a Job in Los Angeles

Careerbuilder, Careerbuilder.Com, How to Find a Job

Every year, tens of thousands of people come to the City of Angeles looking to start a new life. Many will leave, defeated by the experience. If you want to be ahead of the pack, a good place to start before your move is Craigslist, a free listings site where you can also find a place to stay. Employment agencies such as the Friedman Personnel Agency in West Hollywood are also well worth a visit. Pick up freesheets such as LA Weekly and LA City Beat, available at a number of cafes and shops, and check the classified sections. Also worth investigating is the Careers Fair run by Careerbuilder.com, and held several times a year, usually at the Los Angeles Convention Center, in the Downtown area, which has been experiencing an amazing amount of regeneration in recent months.

For those who have recently relocated to Los Angeles, the Careers Fair serves as a good general introduction to the city’s employment market with jobs in healthcare, finance, customer service and retail on offer. And for native Los Angelenos, it provides a good networking opportunity. Many came in business dress with resumes and portfolios ready for on the spot interviews. But by far the longest line was for the Los Angeles County Human Resources booth .
