Foods that Fight Cancer, Low Carbohydrate, Low Carbohydrate Diet

The no bread and higher protein diet is still a big craze that is unlikely to die down anytime time soon. There are many different diets that range from no carbohydrates to low-carbohydrates. Many people have successfully lost weighted with this diet, because essentially carbohydrates turn to sugar if they are not burned out. The on going question that has been continuously debated is whether this diet is healthy or not.

America seems to be known as the overweight country, and Americans are always looking for a diet that will help change this. However, it is important for them to realize in order to live healthy and at a normal weight they must first find a lifestyle. Weight loss is not easy and there are no quick fixes to find a healthy lifestyle. Once the fat is lost it is also important to maintain the lifestyle, or else one takes the chance of the unwanted weight returning.

To eliminate carbohydrates from your diet completely is not a healthy choice. In order to remain healthy it is important to have a well round diet including all the five food groups. Many people have chosen to eliminate a few of these food groups from their diet, which in turn means that have to take supplement vitamins. These vitamins supply many of the nutrients that could have been obtained through a certain food group.

Over the past years, many overweight Americans made a choice to change their life style and embraced the low-carbohydrates diet. The low-carbohydrate diet has proven to be beneficial to these individuals. Studies regarding the affect of carbohydrates date back to 1926, which was completed by the Journal of the American Medical Association. During this research, an anthropologist tested to see if a diet that mainly consisted of meats reflected any health changes. The research team was unable to find any results showing that his health had deteriorated any over the span of time, but it was just a short span of time. This test did not reflect the possible long-term effect of the low or no carbohydrate diet.

There have been studies to determine if higher or lower intake of carbohydrates contribute to cancer. The International Journal of Cancer released information from a study in 2006 showing that low-carbohydrate diets actually decreased the chances of cancer. They also explained that over indulging in breads or other carbohydrates increase the chances of cancer by 94%.

Allegations that the low carbohydrate diets increase the chance of heart disease and could possibly lead to heart failure later in life have been disputed by the result from research completed by the New England Journal of Medicine. They not only determined that it did not directly link to heart failure but they also stated that it could be a good diet for a healthy lifestyle for Americans.
