When used regularly and in the proper quantities, I’ve seen my acne disappear within a matter of a few days. However, there are certain parts of the body that react better to one or the other products. For instance, the Tretinoin cream can be used on the face, back, chest, and other areas, whereas the Clinique spray can be used in all affected areas minus the face.
How much does it cost? The Alpharma Tretinoin cream is generic for Retin-A, which, for you, means big savings. While Retin-A can reach $80-$100, the generic Tretinoin cream is only $50.00. Unfortunately, Tretinoin cream is a prescription, which means that a visit to your doctor is the only way you’ll be able to obtain this miracle solution. What’s the active ingredient? Alpharma’s active ingredient is obvious, Tretinoin. But this probably means next to nothing for most. What’s so special about it? The Clinique will not stain clothing. I have worn fancy dresses over top of a salicylic-acid-sprayed chest and have never once witnessed a stain. How is the skin affected? It depends. Like most acne treatments, Alpharma’s cream recommends that you do not expose skin to the sun after application. This can cause skin disorders and bleaching. However, with the Clinique body spray, you can safely apply and still rest easy about sunlight. But as in all cases, moderation is key. I don’t recommend slathering your body with tanning oil right afterwards.
Will it help my blemishes? The only thing worse than a zit is its aftermath. A big, bulging red scar serves as a war wound from acne. And while the Tretinoin cream is perhaps not quite so hot at preventing blemishes, the Clinique body spray is. When applied, it not only treats acne, but also clears blemishes and prevents the development of more acne, and therefore, the development of more blemishes.
