A Review of Chef Boyardee Lasagna

Chef Boyardee, Lasagna

I have always been a ravioli and lasagna lover. Recently, I came across a can of Chef Boyardee Lasagna in the canned pasta section of my local grocery store. I decided to purchase it, try it out and write an unbiased product review all about my personal experience. Here is what I discovered!

Chef Boyardee Lasagna costs around one dollar and fifty cents for a 15 ounce can. The price does vary from store to store. One can has 2 servings in it. I grew up with the Chef Boyardee brand and ravioli was one of my favorite foods. All through the years, I never tried the lasagna. This product is pretty budget friendly and canned lasagna is quite handy to have on hand, in my opinion, if you like that sort of thing.

Chef Boyardee Lasagna has wavy pasta with a chunky tomato and meat sauce. That all sounded good to me. The preparation of this product is very simple and fast, I discovered. You can microwave this lasagna in a microwave safe covered bowl for a minute and a half, stir and serve. You can also heat it up on the stove up in a saucepan over medium heat until warm, stirring occasionally. Stir before serving, always.

When I cooked Chef Boyardee Lasagna, I used my microwave. In a jiffy, it was ready. Now, that is easy canned lasagna. It smelled really good. This product has Romano cheese, tomatoes, beef enriched lasagna macaroni product, onions, salt, garlic, spices and other ingredients in it. When I tasted this lasagna, I liked it. It is very tasty, meaty and has lots of great tomato sauce. The wavy pasta is very good, also. My only complaint with this lasagna is that it has a bit too sweet of a taste. Yes, this product has high fructose corn syrup in it and a bit too much, in my opinion.

I rate Chef Boyardee Lasagna four stars out of five stars. It is high in quality and it gives me a tasty quick lunch item to fix along with a green salad. It saves me time and money in the kitchen. I can always use that. I also discovered that kids who won’t touch regular lasagna actually like this product. I found that interesting. I guess without ricotta cheese, this lasagna is not so scary to them. This product does contain wheat and milk ingredients.

One serving of Chef Boyardee Lasagna has only 270 calories. 90 of these calories come from fat. One serving has 10 grams of total fat, 5 grams of saturated, 4 grams of monounsaturated fat, 25 mg’s of cholesterol, 830 mg’s of sodium, 36 grams of total carbs, 2 grams of fiber, 10 grams of sugars and 9 grams of protein. This dish does have some vitamin A, C, calcium and iron in it.

I enjoyed trying Chef Boyardee Lasagna and writing this product review about it. It is a bit high in sodium and a tad too sweet but, overall, it is pleasing. For more information about this and other Chef Boyardee food products, you can visit the chefboyardee.com web site.
