Ronzoni Quick Cook Pasta

Pasta

Pasta is one of my favorite food items and I like to eat it as often as possible. Recently, my wonderful Father brought over a type of pasta that I had never seen or heard of before. The type of pasta that I am referring to is Ronzoni Quick Cook Pasta. The variety that my Father brought over is their Quick Cook Penne Rigate. Designed for today’s busy, time – strapped consumer, Ronzoni Quick Cook Pasta fully cooks in approximately three minutes, yet it maintains essentially the same flavor and texture as regular – style pasta.

I am so impressed with this convenient and inventive item, that I have decided to write a product review of it. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Ronzoni Quick Cook Pasta.

Size
The net weight of the standard – sized box of Ronzoni Quick Cook Penne Rigate Pasta is 16 ounces (one pound). According to the product label, the box holds approximately eight 2 ounce servings (about 3/4 of a cup, dry) of pasta. The individual pieces of penne rigate are roughly the same size as regular – style penne rigate. The physical size of the box is approximately the same as most other boxes of pasta.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 16 ounce box of Ronzoni Quick Cook Penne Rigate pasta at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $1.29 . Considering the great taste, number of servings, cooking convenience and overall high quality of the product, I think that this price is very reasonable.

Texture
The texture of Ronzoni Quick Cook Penne Rigate is an important factor and one that I wondered about before eating this pasta. Both times that I’ve cooked this pasta, I have cooked it according to package directions. Each time, the texture of the pasta was very close to al – dente, or slightly firm – to – the – bite. When I ate this convenient variety of pasta, the textureseemed just the same as that of regular – style pasta.

When I first saw this type of pasta, I really wondered if the texture would be the same as that of regular – style pasta, especially because of the touted cooking time. Another thing that I really like about this pasta, is that when I was eating it, the sauce that was served with it, clung to the pieces of pasta very well.

Taste / Flavor
I didn’t know what to expect when I first tasted the new Ronzoni Quick Cook Penne Rigate Pasta. Actually, I figured that it would taste just like regular – style Ronzoni Pasta and as it turns out, it really does. If I were to sit down with two plates of cooked Ronzoni pasta in front of me, one being the regular – style pasta and the other being the Quick Cook pasta, I think that it would be very difficult to distinguish between the two types of pasta.

The flavor of this pasta is pleasant and appealing and it even tastes good plain, without sauce. I know, because each time I cooked the Ronzoni Quick Cook Penne Rigate Pasta, I kept sampling pieces un – adorned, before I sat down to eat dinner.

Packaging
Ronzoni Quick Cook Penne Rigate Pasta is packaged in a standard – type of cardboard box. The box opens and re – closes easily and it does not take up excessive storage space. The box is attractively – designed and the rear label also lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information.

Preparation
What really caught my eye, regarding this product, is that on the front label of the box, it is stated that the pasta cooks in three minutes. At first, I was slightly skeptical and I’m still trying to figure out how and why the Ronzoni Quick Cook pasta does that, cook so quickly. All I do know, is that it really does fully cook in approximately three minutes. When cooking this pasta, simply place it in boiling water, as you would with regular – style pasta. Just cook it for a shorter amount of time, than you would regular pasta.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Ronzoni Quick Cook Penne Rigate Pasta is a very convenient product that makes me wonder how and why all regular – style varieties of pasta take at least twice as long to cook. This pasta looks and tastes the same as regular – style pasta and its texture is also pretty much the same. Available at supermarkets everywhere, this new product is reasonably – priced and is highly recommended by this food writer.
