Italian food is by far my favorite type of food. I just love all types of pasta products, especially when they are topped with tasty Italian red sauces. Sometimes, I really enjoy eating ravioli, but just don’t have the time or inclination to prepare it from scratch. Enter Mama Rosie’s (R) Frozen Ravioli products. The Mama Rosie’s (R) line of frozen ravioli products are among the largest- selling and most popular brands of frozen ravioli available in the Eastern United States. With at least eight varieties of frozen ravioli to choose from, Mama Rosie’s (R) offers more types of frozen ravioli than almost any American manufacturer. These frozen ravioli products are not only delicious to eat, but they are made of the highest- quality, all natural ingredients. No additives, fillers or preservatives are used in these products, making them much healthier to consume than most other commercially– prepared raviolis.
For years, I had seen packages of Mama Rosie’s (R) raviolis and other frozen pasta products in the frozen food sections of my local grocery stores. I had always been impressed by their attractively- packaged products, which feature close- up illustrations of sumptuous pasta products generally swimming in red sauces, set against a deep red background. As with many other supermarket products, it wasn’t until I spotted a money- saving coupon for Mama Rosie’s (R) Frozen Ravioli in a local newspaper, that I decided to utilize the coupon and purchase a package of this frozen food. As soon as I tasted the first bite of these delightful raviolis, I was very glad that I decided to purchase them. Before trying Mama Rosie’s (R) Frozen Ravioli, I would normally consume canned ravioli, which in and of itself, is not necessarily bad. One of the drawbacks to eating canned ravioli however, is that since it is already fully- cooked, if one prefers their ravioli to be al- dente, or firm to the bite, such a preference is impossible to achieve. Quite often, I like to embellish canned ravioli with garlic powder, leftover meat, onions, peppers, or mushrooms. When doing so, which often requires additional cooking time, the canned ravioli runs the risk of becoming overcooked and mushy. At the same time, because canned ravioli is fully cooked, it can be heated and enjoyed very quickly. When cooking Mama Rosie’s (R) Frozen Ravioli, the home cook has much more control over the preparation and doneness of the product. In actuality, all that is required to heat and cook Mama Rosie’s (R) Frozen Ravioli, is to drop the frozen raviolis into boiling water for several minutes, until they float. It is recommended that these frozen raviolis not be microwaved. When preparing these frozen raviolis, if one wishes to add extra ingredients, or to simmer the product in sauce, simply remove from the boiling water before they are fully- cooked, allowing them to continue the cooking process at a lower heat.
While I certainly enjoy eating their cheese ravioli products, it is the Mama Rosie’s (R) Spinach & Cheese Ravioli that I most often consume. These delicious, tender raviolis are filled with spinach and high- quality Ricotta and Pecorino Romano cheeses. The balance of flavors in these frozen raviolis is exceptional. Whereas some brands of ravioli taste too cheesy, the Mama Rosie’s (R) brand features a creamy, nicely- textured filling that offers hints of each ingredient’s flavor. So far, I have purchased and enjoyed the 14 oz packages of Mama Rosie’s (R) Cheese and Spinach & Cheese Raviolis. Some of the other ravioli products manufactured by this company are Low Fat Cheese Ravioli made with Whole Grains, Large Cheese Ravioli, Round Cheese Ravioli, Round Spinach & Cheese Ravioli, Mini Square Cheese Ravioli and Mini Round Ravioli. Nutritionally, Mama Rosie’s (R) Cheese Ravioli contains 250 calories, with 35 calories from fat, per nine- piece (112g) serving and their Spinach & Cheese variety contains 260 calories, with 30 calories from fat. These delectable frozen ravioli products are available in supermarkets and other food retailers throughout the Eastern portion of the United States and are always competitively- priced.
