5 Biggest Customer Complaints Regarding Clearwire Internet

Five of the Biggest Customer Complaints Regarding Clearwire Internet

I work at an electronics store where Clearwire paid to have their internet service displayed. Clear internet service is crap and customers know it. Clearwire is in my store but customers are often complaining to me about these five main Clearwire flaws.

1. Hidden Fees
The main reason customers choose to go with Clearwire internet service instead of AT&T;, Sprint, or Verizon is because of Clearwire’s competitive prices; how ironic is it that this would be one of customer’s biggest complaints. Much like other internet service providers that promise low prices (nods at Cricket and Comcast – wow “C” companies suck at internet service) Clear has both a weird paying process and shoddy service. I often hear complaints from customers about hidden service fees, restocking fees, and unexplained charges. If something sounds too good to be true; it usually is and customer’s complaints about Clearwire’s prices are evidence to that.

2. Setup Issues
I hear complaints from customers on a daily basis about the horrible setup process they face when trying to install Clear internet service. Windows 7 drivers don’t come with Clearwire’s internet service and connectivity issues are complaints that customers express to me every day. I try to tell the customers that I don’t work for Clearwire and that Clear just sells their product at the store, but they have the mentality that “I bought it here so I’ll give my complaints here” – and I can hardly blame them.

3. Horrible Speed and Connectivity
Clearwire promises a 4G network but customer complaints reveal that Clearwire internet service leaves a lot to be desired in terms of speed. Most customers are happy to get the crappy speed when they can, because they can’t get a connection at all most times with their Clear internet. One of the biggest complaints and flaws that Clear internet service faces is its coverage area. Clearwire internet service doesn’t cover the most visited locations in the US (Nevada, Florida, New York, California, etc.) and has connection issues in the areas where they are based.

4. Malfunctioning hardware
It’s evident by customer complaints that not only does Clear have bad service, connections, and fees; they also have cheap hardware. Complaints are always being filed in-store about breaking broadband modems, shoddy USB “Air Cards”, and horrible router support. Oftentimes these complaints are also followed with returning the Clear hardware, but then customers notice the whopping restocking fees and costs to end the contract [points back at hidden fees].

5. They weren’t informed of Clear’s shortcomings
These complaints are understood but at the same time naïve. Of course the salespeople (well meaning as they may be) aren’t going to tell you that you’rebuying “snake skin oil.” The job of the Clearwire rep is similar to the guy that has to turn off other people’s electricity and heat for a living; they know that there job is horrible but they have to make a living (and usually seem depressed about it). Customers are responsible for the product they buy, and even though we’d hope for everyone to be honest; it’s not the salesperson’s job to look out for our best interests – it’s our job.
