Imodium Advanced Anti-Diarrheal & Anti-Gas has been a life saver for me. As I have a condition that is similar but not the same as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. For me I never know when my condition is going to flare up and to what extent. It is a condition I have had to live with since I was 18. Through the years I have managed to get some of what I call attacks under control on it. But on those days that it flares up I have the Imodium Advanced Anti-Diarrheal & Anti-Gas chewable tablets to use.
The Imodium Advanced controls the symptoms of Pressure and cramps(gas), bloating, and diarrhea. I take 2 chewable tablets with water, and take a tablet each time I have a recurrence of diarrhea. Only 4 tablets are allowed in 24 hours. I usually only need the first 2 tablets. I have relief with in the first 5 to 10 minutes, it stops the diarrhea, and eliminates the gas, cramps and that bloated feeling. For me it also eliminates the pain I get with my condition, I do not have to worry about taking any more tablets. I can get back to what I was doing and not have to worry about a recurrence.
I only used the Imodium Advanced if I was at work (or if we are going somewhere). As I was a photographer, and the only one in the studio, it was hard to take pictures and be running back and forth to the ladies room. (I needed fast and lasting relief).
The tablets have a minty chalky taste, so I usually like to chew them fast and drink the water right away while swishing it around in my mouth. I don’t mind the flavor, but others may not like it.
Active Ingredients: Loperamide HCl 2 mg, Simethicone 125 mg (in each tablet)
Inactive Ingredients: polymethacrylates, Cellulose acetate, tribasic calcium phosphate, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, D&C; yellow #10, dextrates, flavor, saccharin sodium, sorbitol, FD&C; blue #1, flavorstearic acid, sucrose.
Packaging: comes in a white box with black and purple lettering, and purple design. Chewable tablets come 18 to a package/9 per perforated sheet, and you can tear them off of individually, peel back the backing to release the tablet. I don’t like the packaging, because when your in a hurry it is hard to open. I always carry the 18 caplets in there bubble protective covering in my purse. That way they are available to me where ever I go.
The benefits of an over the counter prescription is that it is affordable for $8.99 , it is non habit forming and is a prescription strength dose, which covers relieves many different symptoms. My doctor also recommended the Imodium Advanced chewable tablets. My relief of symptoms lasts for 12 hours or more, it relieves the diarrhea, gas, and that bloated feeling and pain. I have had not had any noticeable side effects from taking Imodium Advanced chewable tablets.
